I have now had 3 windows in my truck replaced as a result of the lift cables being broken. The last time I was out of town on business and had to drive 500 miles in Texas heat to get home. Can't wait for the last window to break. A neighbor of mine has also had it happen to his truck. I can understand that this may happen but seems to be a design defect when three windows in one truck have gone out.

This seems to be an on-going issue with this new design. I called the local dealer for this regulator assembly and he said he was out of stock. He also mentioned that he had FOUR of them in stock SEVEN days ago. Which means FORD knows there is an issue and they are failing to do anything about it. I had the exact same issues as everyone else on this page this is number 2 for my truck and i still have 2 more that could go out at anytime. This should be a recall issue.

Driver's side window - rolled window half way down and heard pop. Window slid into door and quit working.
Passenger side window - Fell down by itself overnight. Nice to find your window opens by itself.

This is the second window I have problems with in less than 6 months, even thought the warranty is working, I am almost sure i will have the same problem with the rest of the windows as you can see in the rest of the complaints in this page., and because the warranty is expiring, who is going to pay for it. I think Ford must be responsible for this.
THIS IS A QUALITY PROBLEM THAT MUST BE RECALLED AND SOLVED BY FORD, BECAUSE OF ITS MAGNITUDE, AS YOU CAN SEE IN THE REST OF COMPLAINTS

I have the crew cab with four doors. The window regulators have failed on three of the four doors. One was under warranty. The next failure was repaired by a non-dealer repair shop. The third failure was repaired by myself. In each case, the cable on the regulator broke and is not repairable. I had to buy the regulator which is sold as a unit (includes motor and hardware) each time. The regulator is available only at the dealer because there is no after-market replacement available as yet. Seems that the oem unit is either cheaply made or a poor design.

I have a viper alarm system on my truck that I set the sensitivity level on to rarely go off unless there is a decent shock to the truck. I am sitting in my office and my pager goes off saying a shock to the truck, but looking outside I saw nobody that could have caused it. I left for lunch, rolled my window down about 8 inches to let heat out, and it fell all the way down. When I try to roll it up I hear a grinding noise but no movement. I was sure someone had attempted to break in and screwed my window up until I read the other complaints here. Based on the noise I hear I assume its not the motor; I'm hoping it is just a cable but am not sure if it is covered in my warranty. I doubt it. This sounds like it needs to be addressed by ford!! I live in AZ where today it was 112 degrees (and that is cooler than it has been lately). I can not have a window that does not work in this weather!! PAIN IN THE ASS!!!

Got off work, rolled window down to vent hot air out, heard a popping noise rolled window all the way up and then it dropped completely down on its own and stayed there. Dealership is excellent, Texas Motor's Ford, they are only going to charge me for the parts, otherwise this would be a $390 repair! This should not happen, I'm the only one driving this truck and there is no way the window has been cycled enough to have that kind of failure.

Wow, this is a real pain in the ASS!!! On 7/18/07, i was driving on the freeway and i rolled down my window about two inches and i heard a noise, the window went down all the way and wouldn't come back up. It is a pain in the ass!!! i can't roll my window down for anything. Since my driver's side window doesn't work, i had to roll the left passenger's side window down to have someone give me something on 7/24/07. To my surprise it made a noise and went down all the way and wouldn't work anymore. Now I have to have both of my left side windows taped up, and to my luck it's been raining pretty hard. Hope the tape holds up!!! I work more than 12hrs a day so i don't have time to be getting estimates. I know i'm not the only one this happened to so post your complaints!!! This should really be made into a recall now!!!

Has anyone had help with this problem? We just had the same thing happen to us. We have a 2004 F-150 Lariat and last month the rear right window came down. Today the driver's window came down! This is extremely frustrating and have had no help from anyone. Because it's over the mileage on the warranty, we have to pay for it out of pocket. Ford doesn't even care! Can this part be purchased somewhere else?

R/R window will not go down.

There is definitely a flaw with the window mechanism that ford is using on the F150's. Within 2 months I have had both left side windows on my supercrew cab make a popping noise and discontinue to work. Since it happened to me at night during a Saturday I had no other choice than to take it apart and set the window to permanently stay up. It's a relatively easy fix but costly because parts alone are about $175.00 (discounted) for each frame plus labor. I think that from what I see here with these other complaints that this problem will start appearing to be more of an epedimic since 2004 + models are reaching the 40k marker and expenses for repair will reach up to $1,200 for every 50,000 miles of use. Ford needs to recall this or cut a break on the repairs for fixing this problem. I have purchased a Ford every 4 years for the last 25 years and have never been disatisfied with their product till now.

Rightfront power window does not roll up! Today(Saturday 8/12/06) again I have a defective window on my truck, this time it's the right front. On a trip out of town rolled the window down 2 inches and when it rolled back up I heard a loud pop and the window then slowly fell down inside the frame and will not roll back up.!? 2 weeks after the other window in the rear left was repaired. This will be reported and the dealership will be told they can fix it free!

Leftback powerwindow doesn't work! Windows that do not roll up create theft concerns, and annoying noice/wind issues. Took my truck to dealership for repairs, was going to have to wait until next day quoted time frame of 5 hrs. I work so I took to a private shop only takes 2 hrs. to fix. cost $279.00. Told by Dealer employee typical of F-150's. This is a factory defect and should be made public, possible recall. Now my other window has done the same thing!
