It appears Ford does not care to do much regarding the actuators sticking when you release the parking brake. All seems good when you release the parking brake but unknowingly as you drive, the parking brake is still engaged some. This heats up the rear rotors and your wheels to the point that walking near the wheel that is in question is like walking past a furnace.

My truck started pulling severely to the right like I had a flat tire or the vehicle was out of alignment. When I got out to check I could feel the heat coming off the right rear tire. The mechanic I use said this is a common problem with many Fords from about 2001 to 2006. He cleaned the brakes twice without any luck and then replaced the whole mechanism and so far I have not had any more issues. That was about 6-7,000 miles ago.

I was quoted $500.00 to repair sticking emergency brake[both sides]I did it myself at no cost except for my own time. The actuators were corroded together and would not pivot and allow the brakes to release. You have to crawl under and tap the lever back that the e-brake cable hooks to, to release it.This model has disc brakes but also has drum brakes just for the e-brake.I did fix this myself by cleaning the parts on a wire wheel and used a little anti seize on them.$500.00 yea right!!!
