F-150 4WD 8-cyl

  • Automatic transmission
  • 12,500 miles
The contact owns a 2005 Ford F-150. While driving 50 mph, the rear calipers froze. The wheels began smoking and the vehicle was taken to the dealer. They stated that there was a malfunction with the calipers. The dealer also discovered that an axle seal was leaking, which saturated the brake fuse for the emergency brake. The dealer replaced the seal and calipers and turned down all four rotors on the vehicle, but did not replace the brake pads. The failure recurred and the dealer replaced the rear calipers, rear rotors, and brake pads. The contact wanted to charge him for the brake pads (parts, not labor). The current mileage was 29,250 and failure mileage was 12,500. Updated 4/2/08 updated 04/02/08
