problem #4

F-150 XLT Triton 5.4L V8

  • Automatic transmission
  • 140,000 miles

engine light on, engine light misfiring, smell of gasoline

finally when looked to see why coil replacement did not work, found out the spark plug was so lose it practically came off in the mechanic's hand without him having to use the tool. 2nd, 3rd and 4th visits were free except for the price of the spark plug.... Since I had to wonder what had caused the spark plug to blow, I found the Ford Problem site stating that Ford Triton engines as well as some others were having this problem in a large number of cases. I also read that the fix is to use a HeliCoil Kit. I intend to check into this with my mechanic in the next couple of days...

F-150 XLT Triton 5.4L V8

  • Automatic transmission
  • 140,000 miles

I keep a nice vehicle in order to be as safe as possible on the road...this is extremely annoying. I am hesitant to offer to drive when friends go somewhere together because I am never sure that the truck won't break down. I am willing to fix it and spend the money if I can only find out what to spend the money on.

Highly recommended to take the Vehicle to a reputable auto parts stores to have a OBD diagnostic done to retrieve the trouble codes from the Systems on-board computer before you go to your best Auto Mechanic.
