I am driving a Ford F-150 with a 5.4 engine that recently was running extremely rough. Stalled on the side of the road. Had it towed to the dealer who replaced the fuel injector and plugs and said the engine hydrolocked due to injector problems. Along with the injectors I now have bent connecting rods and a loud knocking in the engine. The dealer stated that the engine needs to be replaced. Problem is none of this is covered under warranty as the Ford Warranty in 2006 was 3 year 36 thousand miles. I know, I could have bought the extended plan. Who would ever think a truck with only 34 thousand miles and maintained extremely well would require 6500.00 in repairs. Just a warning, look hard at the 5.4 engine and research Fords history of hydrolocking for your own protection.

2006 F150 engine hydrolocked with 77,000. I can't believe Ford covered some 2005's under Customer Satisfaction Program 07M08, but not the 2006. Bad thing was my 06 was manufactured in the fall of 2005. Called everybody I could at Ford, BBB, dealership, and anybody else would would listen. Very disappointed with Ford's quality. It was painful to spend $8,500 to replace the engine when I still had payments to make. If you spend time looking around a lot of 2006's had this problem and we were all left out to dry. Not sure what I'll replace the truck with one day, but it certainly won't be another Ford.
