During normal highway driving the gas tank was ruptured on a F150 supercrew 4X4 king ranch by unknown debris. The gas tank does not have a protective shield. It is available as an option, it is standard equipment on the 4X4 model, which I found out later. Upon arriving at our destination we noticed the fuel was spilling, I called roadside assistance, they recommended I call the fire dept. They were able to stop the leak and the vehicle was towed to the nearest dealership. The gas tank was replaced and I do have the old tank.
