Another thing with the 2007 F150... exhaust manifolds warped and snapped off some studs.

another one of ford screwing. replaced passenger side manifold a month ago. 600.00. now driver side starting to leak. replaced spark plugs in march 700.00. 81000 miles on it. how much will it cost to get to a 100,000 miles??????. ford knows all about these problems. ford is next on the recall chopping block. cant wait to see it. rob love.

Our Ford F-150 Super-crew cab with 56,507 miles is in MINT condition and had to have the Manifold Kit and gaskets replaced on both sides. Not 1 side. NO BOTH SIDES. It cost $913.00 for Labor and $571.91 for Parts.
This was ridiculous. It sounded like a time bomb when going down the road. TICK, TICK, TICK. THE FORD MOTOR COMPANY SHOULD BE ASHAMED FOR THEIR ACTIONS ON THIS PROBLEM. These trucks should have been recalled by FORD MOTOR COMPANY for this problem.The Maintenance man at the Freedom Ford in Ebensburg, PA told us that this is A COMMON PROBLEM.
When we called the 800-215-0042 number the representative that answered told us that this is NOT A COMMON PROBLEM. Apparently he does not talk to the maintenance employees at their dealerships. we change the oil every 3,000 miles with Motor Craft oil and motor craft oil filters. My brother-in-law had the same problem with his 2006 F-150 that had low mileage. He was smart and traded it in for a Toyota Tundra.
I have seen many more complaints on this on the web. I hope Ford Motor Company gets their sh*t together and does something about this. I really wonder though. I see where they are moving their plant where labor is much cheaper. Doesn't look good in the future for them.

This is such a common problem with this engine yet Ford doesn't want to acknowledge it as a flaw on their part and recall them.

I already had this issue fixed once. This is the second time the issue has appeared.
One of the bolts that hold the exhaust manifold in place has sheared off and now there is an annoying ticking sound. The sound is especially bad during cold start ups.
Sounds like a diesel engine when I accelerate hard.

A three year old "Ford Tough" truck with a cracked exhaust manifold. How does an exhaust manifold crack? It would either have to be super heated and then quickly cooled... or it would have to be due to a manufacturer defect. I don't drag race my truck. I pull an 1800lb enclosed toy hauler, but thats it. The Ford dealer could only shrug and hand me the estimate. Rumor has it that this problem is caused by Ford using uncoated steel bolts to connect the manifold to an aluminum block... and that its not cracked at all, but falling off because the bolts are disintegrating. Haven't had it fixed yet, but will update when I find out the real reason for this problem.

Ford should have recalled this problem. The bolts break then the manifold warps & overtime cracks. Replacing the manifold & upgrading to stainless steel bolts is the only fix. The right hand side really sucks.
