F-150 5.4L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 60,400 miles

My troubles started last week, heard a loud squealing noise when stepping on the gas. Then withing a day or two, it started to choke and die at stoplights/signs once it was warmed up. I took it in on Thursday and was completely taken by surprise when I was told the engine was shot. Something about the cams and compression. Seems like I am not alone with this problem now that I found this sight. Of course, being a woman, the first question EVERYONE has is: How often do you REALLY change your oil. I can honestly say I have never gone over 3500 miles between oil changes. I bought this truck brand new and have never towed anything or driven it out of my state. My mechanic is hesitant to put a used motor in just because of this recurring problem with the Ford motors. Pretty pathetic!! Wish I would have know about this site prior to purchasing the vehicle. I wouldn't recommend a Ford to anyone if you paid me at this point! Please see my other posts for issues with this POS since day one.

F-150 King Ranch 5.4L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 86,000 miles

I purchased this truck new, 17000 miles later it died. After fighting with the dealer they replaced the engine due to a faulty block. About a month ago the truck would warm up and begin to idle rough and dye. I took the truck to a mechanic and he advised the cam phaser was failing along with the timing chain and oil pump. His recondmation is to replace the engine due to unknown issues that could have been caused by the failing parts, and reoccurring issues with the engine. Keeping in mind this FORD engine only has 69000 miles on it, has never towed any heavy loads, and rarely gets driven long distances. The mechanic informed me this is a major problem with the 2007 f150 5.4L engine. I'm very disappointed in FORD for not recalling this vehicle and replacing the engines to ensure owners they will not have to replace engines prematurely. This will be the last FORD I will ever purchase.

F-150 5.6L V8

  • Automatic transmission
  • 98,335 miles

Truck broke down Nov 2013, received a new engine as the rocker arm broke w/metal piece loose in the engine... I received my truck back 1/13/14 w/new engine ... Today, 11/4/14, my engine is skipping again, it appears to be the spark plugs... here we go again... I am 200 miles over warranty so I am SOL...

I have been a Ford driver 27+ years... this is my 1st bad experience... I really thought I could get more than a year out of my new engine... now I am discovering 2007 has had many engine issues... ** The dealer that took care of the problem was awesome... I am just disappointed... I love FORD... and until now have not had any issues... but I've got them now... enough...already...

F-150 4x4 Supercab V8

  • Automatic transmission
  • 59,000 miles

We purchased this 2007 Ford F150 new off the lot and paid $30,000 for it. A year later this knocking noise started. We ask the Ford dealership about it more than once and we were told it's normal, don't worry about it. 7 years later and just hit 60,000 miles, our engine is shot and we have to come up with $6,000.00 to replace it. Garage kept, oil changes on time, very well maintained. Talk about being pissed off because Ford doesn't believe this was/is there fault. If your Ford has any kind of knocking noise GET RID OF IT!!

If any starts a law suite against Ford - PLEASE let me know.

F-150 XLT 5.4L Triton

  • Automatic transmission
  • 91,700 miles

I am the 2nd owner of this truck. I purchased it less than a year ago. A week ago I had what sounded like a lifter noise at first then it started to sound like what most people are saying "like a diesel engine". I was on the freeway when it finally let go. The truck got really loud and died. I was able to limp it home and had it towed to a Ford dealer at a cost to me of $230. The Ford dealer said that the engine was junk. The crankshaft thrust bearing went out. A new engine is going to cost me $6000. I contacted Ford who like many others was told that I am SOL. I you are having the same issues save your service tickets. If we all call Ford it might start a recall. Call Ford at 1-800-392-3673. If any one started a class action I am in. This will be my first and last Ford.

F-150 FX 5.6L V8

  • Automatic transmission
  • 59,000 miles

My son owns a 2007 ford F150 bought brand new after returning from his first tour in Iraq. With no to low miles on it after two years, he is home since and now has 59,000 miles on it. He has regularly had oil changed at the local ford dealship with Royal Purple synthitic oil. Thusday the 22nd, he pulls in the driveway and we notice water leaking from underneath. No leak found and it is straight water, no anti freeze and he wasn't running his air either. But I do hear what sounds like a lifter knocking. We check oil, and pressure. All good and now smoking in a oil burning problem. He gets up Friday, leaves for work, gets two miles down the road on interstate 44. Truck makes loud bang and has no forward or reverse. He pulls over on the shoulder. he calls me, I go and get him and he tries to start it and it makes a god awlful grinding starter noise. The truck gets towed to the local dealership. The mechanic tries to turn the motor with a pipe wrench and it won't budge. they determine a blown motor, lock up motor. It has only 59,000 miles and he had his last oil change at 51,000 there. They tell him he is over his next change and it won't be under warrenty.

They call today saying if he'll sign a paper they will tear down the motor and see what happened. If it's a warrenty issue then they will replace and if not he is responsible for the $ 1200.00 tear down and still no motor. $ 7000.00 for new motor and install. we both check his oil the night before and it looked good and maybe a little low. Nothing to worry about. He had good oil pressure, it wasn't running hot and not smoking.

My opinion he broke a crank. How in the heck with being still under the 60,000 mile warrrety say...we need to tear the engine down. Ford, is this how you treat everyone and also VETERENS ? Running royal purple and last change at 51,000, come on...I've had a 1994 ford ranger for a long time and went 15,000 with no oil change and am still drving it everyday. This is a engine failure of a Ford Motor and it shuold be covered under warrenty. How dare you treat people this way.
