The contact owns a 2007 Ford F150. The contact was driving approximately 50 mph on normal road conditions. There was an excessive force applied to the brake pedal. The vehicle failed to slow down and crashed into the rear of a proceeding vehicle. The brake pedal broke as a result of the pressure applied to it. The police and ambulance were called to the scene. The driver sustained a minor injury and the passenger sustained severe injuries to the neck and head. The air bags failed to deploy on impact. The vehicle was towed to a collision shop and repaired for the damages. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer for the repair of the brake system and replacement of the air bag sensor. In addition, when proceeding to make a sharp turn there was a loud popping noise coming from the front end of the vehicle. The failure mileage was 30,000.
