This problem may be covered under warranty. Ask your Ford dealer.
My truck has been garage kept in California since I purchased it new in 2008. I first noticed the paint starting to bubble along the leading edge of the hood in 2013. It has continued unabated, and now it is 2016 and I have several silver dollar sized areas on my hood that the paint as bubbled completely off. Under the paint is this white chalky residue that is covering the aluminum. I got a quote of 1,400 in Monterey to fix and repaint the hood, but decided against it due to cost. I went to the ford dealership and they told me I was lucky I had no problems for this long. Unfortunately it was beyond the 36 month warranty obviously. Several blogs speak of this problem and there supposedly was a class action lawsuit filed in 2013 in New Jersey. Ford needs to fix this...

It really sucks that people spend their hard earned $$$$$ on brand new vehicles and the dealership (FORD).All they do is rant and rave about their product and when some thing goes wrong they screw you in the end, My chrome nerf bars started to rust on the top of them so i talked to the dealer and get this they have had the same issue on other trucks , i was told by ford that they will not warranty them, what a joke.
Update from Nov 14, 2009: verdict in,FRAUD i mean FORD is NOT going to give me warranty, apparently this is how they treat their customer's.FYI when someone from the dealership tell's you that they have had issues with a product that they sell it really means that when you need the warranty they SCREW you over, needless to say i am NOT going to buy any product from MGM FORD in reddeer.

I purchased this truck new from the dealer with 2 miles on odometer.I took vehicle in for service and tech advised me of a hole in frame on passenger front side.I brought truck home and parked in driveway as I explore options .I contacted Ford Dealer and customer service ,filed a complaint with the NHTSA .The truck overall is in very good shape and has been a joy to drive ,now I get sick at my option of basically buying my truck again due to cost of replacing frame.I hope Ford will step up and either repair or buy vehicle back as I understand Toyota has done.
