THE VEHICLE WILL SHAKE AT STOPS AND SOUNDS LIKE A DIESEL. NO ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON BUT IT'S ANNOYING. THE ENGINE HAS TO BE AT OPERATING TEMP. I SAW WHERE SEVERAL PEOPLE SAY IT'S THE CAM BEING RETARDED. ALSO, TO REPLACE THE SOLENOIDS. I DO HAVE AN EXTENDED WARRANTY ON THE VEHICLE WHICH I MAY INQUIRE ABOUT WITH THE WARRANTY COMPANY. I HAVEN'T HAD THE PROBLEM WITH THE SPARK PLUGS THAT OTHER OWNERS HAVE HAD AS I JUST HAD PLUGS CHANGED

This is my sons truck in my name. He has been having problems with the engine cutting out some on down hill driving or highway driving for a few weeks and about 10 days ago he was trying to pass someone and the engine gave out and he was almost killed trying to get out of the way of oncoming traffic. I contacted the dealer where we used to live in NM and they told me there was a bulletin from Ford about a problem with that engine with that ear model. I took it to the dealer by where we live now and now they said it would be $400-$500 to tear down the engine to diagnose it. Then they called and said yes it would be covered under warranty as an engine defect and Ford would pay for it and we would be responsible for $586 for new mounts, oil change, etc. We told them ok. The next day they called and said when they tore down the engine even further they found sludge in the bottom of the engine and we needed to provide copies of all our oil changes or Ford would not cover it. We have moved and all our old receipts are in a box somewhere in a storage room where we used to live. I called the old place who changed our oil on all our vehicles for a record and was told they purged all their inactive accounts and since we moved, we were one of them. We will see what they say but dealer said engine will be on us. This engine only has 41,000 miles on it. We buy a lot of vehicles and this is my 7th Ford in the last 10 years, including 5 F-150, a Lincoln Navigator, and a Mustang convertible. If this is how they treat a valued customer, I have bought my last Ford.

i thought i was the owner of a great pick up, however on my way to work one morning my confidence was rattled when my truck began idling rough engine light came on after work took to the dealer, then my education on ford 's issues and lack of concern came to be known $300.00 later #5 spark plug fouled because the coil went bad, now I'm left with a truck i cant trust and i hate that feeling, i spent $30,000.00 on this truck bought it new just so i wouldn't have that feeling, ford needs to man up and repay us and fix this now, but something tells me politicians have been bought the courts corrupted and we the consumer will get screwed just like always

It happened when I was coming to a stop and the truck started knocking real hard shaking the whole truck. Its been at the shop for 2 days and they haven't done anything I can't even get a loaner car and have lost a good amount of money because of it. And 2 weeks prior the idler arm pulley seized up. Ford is garbage in my eyes. I thought I was buying the best truck out there but I was sadly mistaken.

Brought the truck to my mechanic and had him check the engine for what I thought sounded like a knock in the engine. He stated he definitely heard it and that I should take it to the dealer because it could be a serious problem. I took the truck to the dealer and explained that it wasn't always loud but but you could hear a ticking from the engine. Sometimes a loud knocking and the idle got rough once. He said he heard the ticking sound and took in the truck. They drove the truck for a few days and then told me, Ford Manual Response #1, they could not reproduce the problem. So I had them note it that it has been in there twice for that knocking sound and rough idle, and that they can't reproduce it, while under warranty. I have since found this website and have seen several other people with similar stories about the problem of cam phasers. Seems like this problem should be quite clear to Ford dealerships by now. At least the next visit I'll have a little knowledge about what they may already know. There is the noise, my mechanic has heard it, the service writer heard it and several people know what I'm talking about. Next visit I'll be mentioning cam phasers.

I bought this truck 30 days ago, it idles rough @ stop lights. The 2 dealers I took it to told me the EPA regulates emissions on new cars and trucks!! That is crap!!!! He said Ford has to go by their guidelines, my truck is a V6 but the tech told me even the V8 motors do it too. Now I have a 5 year note on a truck that "runs lean" and nobody will fix it!!! WTF Ford!!!!!
