3 months ago, the Transmission went out on it. Year ago, the reported the fuse blows every time I use the washer fluid button. Crossroads Ford had it 8 days and then said the washer motor was bad and charged $400. Driving it off the lot, I hit the button again and the fuse blew.
Now the truck starts and idles with no problems or sign of a problem. When you press the accelerator it feels like it is flooding out and then I hear a ticking noise like valve springs? Then my wife said the engine light came on and said overheated and shutoff.
Took it to Crossroads Ford and the charged me $247.20 to change the Camshaft Phasers Sensor. Then told me they can now run a full diagnostics and then told me they needed to replace the camshaft and all the sleeves for $3700.
Still, when I start the truck there doesn't seem to be any issues when running, idle and no starting issues or no noises. Hard for me to believe it is the camshaft? Would the engine run fine if the camshaft was bad?
Update from May 9, 2015: Crossroad Ford of Kernersville tried to rip me off again. Said I needed a new camshaft and sleeves for $3700 or a new motor. They have no competent mechanics in that shop. If the computer don't tell them exactly what to do, they have no idea.
I refused the service. Took the truck to Cottsmans in Winston Salem. They ran a compete diagnostics and used knowledge database and found the issue to be the Variable Timing Solenoid and replaced for $800.
If I would have let Ford do their stupid thing, I would have just been out $4000. They already charged me $400 to replace a parts so they could run a diagnostics on it and didn't even fix the issue.
They are the biggest thieves in the dealer business. This is now twice they have charged me more than $400 and replaced a good part and never fixed the issue.
