I went to the ford dealership and they wanted to charge me 1300 for a standard tune up. They said it is because the plugs could brake off in the motor and they would have to do this and that to remove them. I am a handy person so I went to autozone and bought the parts all Motorcraft to change the plugs and the boots in the process things were going so good. Then I realized that I couldn't get them out of the engine. So then I tried everything - the plugs are broken in the engine and one of the boots broke off in the hole with the plug. So the moral of the story I changed 3 out of 8 and the rest are impossible to remove and I now have to take to the shop and pay the money to have it done.

Spark plug design is the worst I've ever seen in my life. Spark plugs broke and got stuck inside the engine. Had to tow to a dealership. Got charged out the ass because Ford is stupid. Then they put the same damned plugs back in.

spark plug ejection

The spark plug ejected out of the cylinder while we were traveling down a major highway. Lucky for us we were not hurt or in a wreck. However it was getting dark & we had to find a tow truck, dog friendly hotel and borrow a vehicle to get to our destination and then home again. It really put us out and cost of a lot of money. Most disappointing is the fact that Ford knows of this issue and did not send us a letter warning us, so we could address the issue before it happened.

Traveling down busy interstate we hear a loud bang under hood. Then smell gas. The #3 spark plug had ejected. The truck had to be towed. $$ we had to get a motel $$ the mechanic already knew the exact problem AND the exact plug! He could not fix it as the threads were stripped from the ejection. $$ had to have it towed to Ford dealer $$. Found out we have to have the head replaced and it will take over a week! $hi# $3900!

This whole ordeal has put us in the hole for $4510 and counting. If this site or anyone knows where we can sign a class action lawsuit against Ford for knowing they have issues and did not recall Please alert this site so they can alert the rest of us who are suffering with these spark plug issues.

Bought my 09 f150 two months ago, coming home from a wedding, something let lose under the hood. I lost power and my engine sounded like a tractor. Towed it home, took it to a shop where they figured out the spark plug ejected and ruined the threads going into the engine. Called the dealership, not covered under warranty. Called ford they wouldn't give me any information. Called a ford dealer where after doing some research on my part, we found out it is a tbs. Took it to a garage where they had to fix it and I had to pay out of pocket for a problem that is fords problem!!!!
