gears in transfer case demolished

It took Ford 3 weeks to get a replacement transfer case. We were without a vehicle until I convinced them to provide a rental in week 2 as my fiance was back from working up north and he needs a vehicle to get to and from work.

problem #1

Nov 082014

F-150

  • Automatic transmission
  • 44,000 miles

The truck had been sitting for 6 days in the driveway and started it and noticed right after backing up that there was a small leak under it. Reddish in color. Had mechanic look at it and he said that there was a crack in the transfer casing and shell of transmission. He was not sure how it could of happened because it is not in a normal pressure area for anything like this to happen. Cost estimate to fix was over $2500.00!! This truck isn't even broke in yet and already has big problems! Don't know what to do...trade it or save enough money to fix. Meanwhile am out a vehicle!!

Has anyone else had these problems or know of any recalls regarding this?
