F-150 XLT 4.6L V8

  • Automatic transmission
  • 10 miles

Bought this is 2009 at a ford dealership in Albuquerque NM. It's NEVER shifted correctly. I took to the dealership at least FIVE times and just got a Too bad how sad. We paid CASH during a recession and will never, ever buy a lemony car from Ford again or go near that dealer. It still downshifting on highway from 5th to fourth - it makes a clunk. We even paid to have some damn thing done and didn't fix it.

Update from Sep 23, 2021: So this truck always shifted hard, we took it to the dealer 5 times. Never fixed it. After warranty was up they could fix it then to the tune of 3,000. Never ever will I buy another ford. If you can't stand behind your product you are no good

My husband bought this piece of sh*t in 2009 new. It has always shifted hard on hills and goes clunk . They just kept telling him that it needed to learn how HE drives and that will fix it. Well here we are in 2016 and it is still the same and the ford dealer did nothing.

I had taken my 2009 f150 into ford for the recall that they had for the door spring. That's when i started to feel something like the trans was slipping. I made the appointment told the lady at the counter the best way i could describe the problem and i also put it on paper that the truck at a full stop when you first start to go you feel it bump in gear twice then it goes fine after that it does it all the time when you first go at full stop. They called back on monday to tell me that the truck was ready the door was fixed but that they could not find anything wrong with the transmission that the mechanic drove it for six miles.I would have to go back and drive it with the mechanic and do it over again. I haven't had the time to take it back due to work. hopefully i will before warranty runs out. FORD NEEDS TO STEP UP AND FIX THIS PROBLEM we payed a lot for truck only problem.FIX IT FORD FIX IT don't screw the people over

There's a hard shifting from 2nd to 3rd gear. Began first day had truck. Bought used. Happens at 70 mph going uphill when tranny shifts from about 2500 up to about 3000 RPM. REALLY SHIFTS HARD. Dealer put in some sort of valve. Didn't help much. Otherwise great truck. Selling to get better financing on another truck.

F-150 XLT 5.4L

  • Automatic transmission

Shifted hard from 1st to 2nd and slammed into 4th gear so hard it would throw your head forward. Took it to the dealer and had the "upgrade" of the computer and gas milage fell off 2.5 miles per gallon. Gee thanks.

F-150 5.4L

I purchased an 09 fx4 150 and under 1000 miles it had a hard 1-2 shift/shutter, so bad in some cased (hard acceleration) would lock up the rear tires as if it was thrown in park!....I took it to ford and they did an update. Not fixed! took it back 2 more times for the same issue and they did the same maintenance an tranny update but still NO fix. I called my dealer and expressed with "GREAT and DETAILED" concerns for this issue. So AGAIN they're going to take it and the MGR is going to drive it for a few days to see what the deal is because I was told I was The ONLY person and I'm imagining this as if I was a hypochondriac, as if I have better things to do with my time and $$! Bottom line is if this continues I will def change products because I took a chance with another f150, my last 06 f150, not so much! This has been a bad NEW CAR experience...Thanks Ford!

F-150 Lariat 5.4L V8

  • Automatic transmission
  • 1,000 miles

ford acknowledges the problem, they have swapped out the transmission twice and updated the software twice, this has not resolved the issue. I was told confidentially that there is no fix for this problem, in mid 2010 there will be an updated transmission in all F-150's, the problem is that the fix is not backwards compatible. If you purchased a 2009 or 2010, you are screwed, do not buy a F-150 until the updated transmission is available. DO NOT PURCHASE A F-150 UNTIL MID 2010.
