This vehicle was put together before Ford researched any possible issues, as far as I am concerned. I spent a lot of money on this problem vehicle. Two weeks into service, the front left hub went bad. The repair was covered under warranty.
The bed is 6.5'. With this length comes a 2 piece drive shaft. I know many know about this problem. Ford decided to use the technology they had used with the Ranger in this vehicle despite having the same problems. They put a nylon spline between the 2 sections. The problem: the blue grease dries out or is squeezed out and leaves the nylon spline to twist against itself thus causing a hopping vibration when accelerating from a stop or coming to a stop as the transmission downshifts. I've had this vehicle in to the dealer MANY times for this issue. They acknowledge the problem and on several occasions disassembled the driveshaft and re-greased it. This fix works for a very short period of time, as the grease again dries out, or is forced out. The last time I brought it in to the dealer, they completely replaced the aluminum driveshaft with a steel version manufactured exactly the same with a nylon spline... Unbelievable! I have given up and just deal with the constant hopping. I hope this is not damaging the transmission or differential.
Let's keep going.
-The gas cover door return spring has come off approximately 6 times. The repair is a pain, as I have done it each time myself.
-The moonroof cost me $2000 to get replaced when the track decided to unravel. I now refuse to use it because I don't want to spend that money again on a crappy design.
-The newest issue. The rear window defroster. About 2 weeks ago I tried to turn on the defroster, which also energizes the mirror heaters, and the light in the button did not come on. More trash! I did a little troubleshooting of my own, since I am an electrical contractor. When removing the relay for the rear window defroster, the mirror heaters do come on. Before anyone asks, I did check the relay. The relay is fine. I even swapped it with the one for the mirrors. It did work. After reading everyone else's problems with the rear passenger side window, I've decided to leave the relay out.
Back to the dealer....
Can't wait for the new Titan later this year. I had an 05 Titan. The only problem I had was a cracked exhaust manifold.
The sad thing is I've owned many Fords over the years, including fleet vehicles. This one really let's me down.
