I bought my ford used but I also know that the company has had many complaints on the same issues. I feel like should have been addressed. I bought a 2010 ford f150 the day I drove it off the lot I had to take it to shop to have rear end replaced because of the clutches which I got fixed then turned around and here we are exactly a year later my truck not only needs the rear end fixed again but also four wheel drive as well as cam phasers less then 100,000 miles and the truck not only looks like crap with paint peeling but you cant drive it. Not to mention the fact that due to fords negligence of not taking care of certain complaints I cant even get into my truck due to health issues. Most every single thing I've posted on here including what is causing me to have health issues has been complained about multiple times and has been looked over. I do not recommend getting a ford to anyone and I will never own another one and this is my second ford f150 the first one had some issues but nothing like the 2010 or later and my first one was an 02 which its main issues was throwing spark plugs and breaking coil packs.

Transmission clunk while crawling in traffic, usually happens in second gear, transitioning from brake to gas but has happened while just rolling along. Needless to say it never happens while the mechanic is test driving it. It never happens while towing or under acceleration (medium or hard), or hard braking. It almost seems like the torque converter is locking or unlocking roughly. Transmission is serviced every 30K since new. Runs great in every other respect.

just purchased a used f150 str 4x4. sometimes under acceleration or climbing hill it balks three or four times and comes out of it I don't know if its a gas problem, transmission problem, rearend I just don't know. it could be some kind of sensor I def. could use advice also my power seat refuses to power back it goes sideways when I try

Thought Ford could make a truck that would last a long time. Even though it has 90,000 miles, that should be just breaking it in. I've had Ford F-150's that had 180,000 on it when I bought a new one. It still got around great.
We first started noticing a thumping or grinding noise, changed the brake pads, that didn't help. So here is winter, noise and vibration are worse. The shop says we need to rebuild the rearend! Good thing we have the wife's 1998 Mountaineer to use until it warms up!
Update from Apr 9, 2016: Took the truck into the Dealership, the guy couldn't believe I had been driving the truck, it was in bad shape. All the bearings had gone out of the rear end. It was cheaper to buy a used rear end with low miles on it and have them replace it, than to have it rebuilt. We would have had to take a second mortgage out if we wanted a new rear end put in. The manager had not heard of any other trucks or SUV's having this issue.

The drive train clunks when you stop, clunks when you take off, at low speeds hammers into second gear sometimes,and sometimes hammers on a slow speed down shift. There is definitely a problem and I am not going to settle for "they all do it". Chrysler, Chevy, Honda, and Nissan don't have this issue. I was assured this went away in 07 before I considered buying another "Truck of the Year".

From date of purchase the truck has had a shift problem. Took truck back to dealership a couple of days after purchasing it complaining of the shift quality and the truck bed oscillating when hitting a bump (another problem). Transmission would shift sluggishly between first and second and then search for gears after that. Vehicle acted as if it had a skip.
Complained of the skip and sluggish shifting. Ford said that it was like others and no problem was found. Vehicle has not shifted correctly since purchased. Acts as if torque converter is not locking up correctly.
Know vehicle has started making a thumping sound from the rear or in the drive train as if something is loose in the system upon acceleration from a dead stop. As someone else has written it does appear as if the brakes are not releasing immediately and the pop free all of a sudden. I have noticed that fuel mileage is not consistent. Some days I can get about 22mpg on the highway and on other days it is about 17.
Forget passing someone, If you do the transmission will search for a gear several times before settling on one. While searching for a gear it feels as if vehicle is skipping again.
Also have noticed that while driving on the highway at about 70-80mph steady the vehicle will hiccup for a second and continue on.

My first FORD and I'm very disappointed... CLUNK when braking, in rear and beginning to happen on acceleration too. Dealer says it needs special grease --- They did not have any in stock so now I'm waiting on the "part" as they called it to come in so they can fix the issue. Sure hope it works but I'm not very confident at this time.

I purchased a 09 King Ranch in June of 09. Was a Ball of S**t from day one. Transmission problems, Sync, Leather on the seats fading 3k miles. Was on the Phone every day with ford corp rep in Florida for about a month. Was told they would take care of all the problems. That was a lie, when I took it back to the dealership to get it fixed, they refused to fix half of the probles. So.... Traded it one year to the date of purchase with only 10k miles on it and a $600.00 Exhaust system. Got a 2010 Platium, loved it for the first 3k miles and all the Transmission problems was in this one also. Started with a thump in the rear when taking off from a stop. Felt as if the rear brakes were sticking for a few seconds then leting go.Took it back to a Dealership and they repacked the rear Yoke and flashed the Trans. worked fine for about 1k miles. Then it started to have a thump when coming to stop & when starting off, also developed a shutter when shifting from reverse to drive while rolling back. Would not hold its own weight & would clunk a few times & stall the motor. Took it back again & they replaced the Drive Shaft & flashed the Trans again.Seemed to fix it for then, but 1500 miles later it all started again.Tranny guy @ dealership said the stalling from reverse to drive was a programming problem & they did not have a fix for it yet.I now have 10k miles on it and it's starting to slam hard from 4th to 3rd & also 2nd to1st, still thumping when stopping & starting & the brakes are very sensitive when coming to a stop. This new F-150 has a lot of Bugs. Going back to Dealership next week again. We will see what they have to say this time. I have been a Ford Guy fro the past 20 Years, had a 99, 2001,2003, 2005 all F-150s. Never had problems out of any of them till the 09.They have one more shot to fix this heap of junk if they can't I will start buying GM products.Anybody out there feel the way I do?????

Purchased this vehicle from DriveTime, and after taking possession of vehicle I made a trip from home in Alvarado to Granbury Texas to visit a friend that had outpatient surgery after my visit and while driving home coming to a stop at red lights I could notice a thump feeling from the seat of my pants as I accelerated, I don’t have a heavy foot and normally taking off from a stop sign or red light at intersection every time I could feel the thump and I started off, I have a warranty that I purchased with the vehicle, the sales man told me that if I had any problems with the vehicle in the first 30 days that there would be no deductible, I called the warranty company SilverRock they gave me a repair shop close to my house, it is now at Caliber Auto Care in MansfieldTX.
They have found the pinion seal leaking and the pumpkin gasket on the rear end leaking as well on 03-10-21. So far they have mixed opinions from two of the ASE technicians as to what they should do or look at the fix why I came in to have the problem looked at right now. I will call them again on 10-19-21 to see what they have to say about the main problem at hand.
I quick search on the internet you came find that a name has been given to this problem as ‘’slip bump’’ and everything from replacing the whole driveshaft to U-joints, or re-greasing the Driveshaft slip yoke boot and center bearing or even replacing the whole transmission! It’s amazing to me how many problems Ford has with the F150 series and yet there as far as I can tell still not a certain fix for this problem. I will be looking into the lemon laws and an attorney if I can not get a resolution to this problem that from what I can tell has been going on for some time.
