No start when cold. Won't crank as if it's in gear or a dead battery, but all the electrics work. Nothing dims when turning the key, so I know it's not the battery. The battery, alternator and belt are both less than a year old. Tried moving the gear selector lever to neutral, no joy. Tried jiggling the fuses in the under-hood fuse-box. That seemed to do it, but I'm doubtful that is really the fix. If it happens one more time, that truck history. I'm too old to be screwing around with an unreliable vehicle here in the 21st century.

No start condition, hot or cold. Cranks, but won't catch. Stranded me several times. The fuel pump fuse is 20 amps but physically it's the tinniest fuse in the system, about the size of your baby fingernail. The fuse and socket melts and oxidizes. I found the solution by searching online, this is a much more common problem then Ford will tell you. The solution is to find a large empty socket in the fuse box (one of the big square ones) and use that location for your new fuel pump fuse. Stay with the 20 amp rating but be sure to mark the new location on the fuse-box door. If you own an F-150/Expedition or Lincoln Blackwood/Navigator, you had better check your fuel pump fuse, it's a ticking time bomb ready to strand you at the worst possible time. If it's discolored, melted or won't come out, you're on borrowed time. It's not a matter of IF... but WHEN you are stranded.
fuel pump fuse replaced w/physically larger fuse same rating
