I have a 2010 Ford F150 FX2 Super Crew. I started hearing a ticking noise coming from the engine bay at around 120K miles. The truck was a little over five years old and I bought it brand new. The truck was out of warranty of course. I took the truck in to get it checked out and it was the cam phasers. It cost me approximately 5K to have the motor fixed. This is a known issue that Ford will not resolve.

I listed this under "Manifold" because I think this is the problem...I have a constant ticking coming from the engine and now it seems to be happening when the engine is cold and right from start up.
I sounds like the manifold and since last week I have mentioned it to a few people with F-150's who say they too have had problems with the manifold cracking or at least failing.
One person's truck sounds just like mine and it has already been confirmed that his manifold is cracked. He will have it repaired this week, mine is scheduled for two weeks from now. I will update when I can!

I bought the extended bumper to bumper warranty from Terry's Ford of Peotone, Illinois. It has ticked literally the entire time I have owned it. They say it's normal. We all know it's not normal. They have made a million of these 4.6 engines. They know exactly what's wrong but they refuse to fix it. They replaced a few parts but none of them fixed the problem. Do not trust these people to be good to you. They won't be. Never buy Ford.
