Took the truck in four times, some under warranty. The transmission finally failed at 63,000 miles. New transmission was required.

Like you guys, my truck started shifting funny after about 1,200 miles (I bought it new). Tried to just overlook it until it kept getting worse, for example, I could be driving about 40mph up hill and let's say I had to slow down and the truck needed to down shift to 2nd gear. The sound it made was like a hammer hitting the floor board, bang/clank sound. It also shifted funny when approaching a red light or some situation were you might be slowing down to about 16mph and not come to a stop but accelerate. Sometimes the truck would UPSHIFT at 16mph which would drop the rpms to about 600 and the truck would fall flat on its face. Or it would down shift and almost bark the tires. I took it in to the dealer with 7,000 miles on it and was told nothing was wrong with it, it was a design flaw from Ford and they couldn't fix it.

Just got off the phone with Ford and they said TOUGH S**T that is the way it is suppose to shift. They admit it may shift rough but it learned to shift that way and that is how it will shift from now on.

Brand new from the dealer, truck started with inconsistent shifting, hard shifting, searching for what gear to be in, and it downshifts all the way to first gear, it doesn't matter what gear its in or what speed its going. Pulling a trailer with a tractor about 40 MPH on a wet road in a curve, it went from 4th gear all the way to first gear. The weight of the trailer and tractor pushed me into the oncoming lane of traffic, thank goodness it was empty. The only way I could get control back was to lock the trailer brakes. Took it to the dealer numerous times and hear the same thing, that nothing is wrong with it and its learning my style of driving. I have learned how to drive it. You can't pass anything, you can't tow anything and you can't drive it in the rain. The back doors leak. The dealer could not say enough about the towing capacity. The truck is rated to pull 11300 pounds. It really struggles to pull 7000 pounds. I can't wait to get my 10000 pound camper behind it. If anyone else has got a solution, I am all ears to hear it.

I have also experienced the delayed shift/inconsistent shift problems right from new. Although it has been months since the last time, it may happen again in the future. The first time when I floored it to pass a vehicle, it lugged in 6th gear for about 5 seconds then... wham down into 2nd and every piece of plastic in the cab sounded like it was breaking and felt like was it in a rear end collision.

Hey guys, if anyone has a fix for this please let me know. I have a 2010 F-150 4x4 supercrew xlt with the 5.4 and 5.5' box, the transmission feels like it slips or cant decide what gear to be in every time I drive it cold and go around a long right hand corner on my way to work, the dealer has had my truck in the shop for a week now for a vibration problem as well as the transmission and they are telling me that they cant find anything wrong with the transmission. It only does it when its cold and makes no difference if the engine is warmed up before driving, this is driving me nuts, other than these two problems I love the truck.

I love my 2010 Ford 150 Crew Cab. However, the six speed transmission is sometimes unpredictable when needing to tromp down the gas for quicker acceleration,(pulling out of the median on a busy four lane highway). Sometimes it appears to be searching for the right gear and I will hear excessive noise as it finally hits the gear and takes off. The problem is with the lag in accelerating at a time you don't want surprises. It doesn't happen all the time, but is something that I did not have with the four speed auto in my 2000 Expedition. The dealer said that this 6 speed is a "learning" transmission and that it is responding to my driving habits. I would believe that there should be a software update for the transmission but am not aware of it.

This problem has been building for some time now but recently while driving on the highway on speed control, when the truck would come down one hill and began going up the next (we have a lot of hills in eastern NL!), the transmission would clunk badly enough for the coffee to slosh out of the cup! It started happening occasionally but then on one 2000 km trip it began happening on nearly every hill.
The software, according to Ford, needed to be updated - apparently there is a known fault with the software(?). It did resolve the issue but I can feel it starting again. I will have to wait until it becomes more noticeable to bring it in again.
I want to note that my dealer (Avalon Ford) is at least trying to resolve my issues!
