My 2011 F150 FX4 has been acting up with the transmission. This has happened multiple times and the dealer is unable to replicate it. So far they have changed all of th coil packs, reset the transmission, changed all the spark plugs in a hope that was the issue. Well it's not. The truck lunges forward with loud bangs and grinding noises. RPM's go up and down and the truck sounds as if I downshifted from 6th gear to first. Then I can only go 40 miles an hour with high rpms. Engine lights have lit up and now a wrench. This is crazy my gauges don't work this is dangerous.

When taking my foot off the accelerator, the transmission will automatically down shift to an inappropriate gear, mostly at highway speeds, although it has happened in city driving. ( I.e.70 mph to 4th gear, 55 mph to 2nd. Etc.) now, all this downshifting has caused the trans to slip, not go immediately into gear, etc. Ford has a recall for this issue but says my truck was built before they started having problems, so is not included in the recall.

This is the second time I have had this issue with this truck, while merging on a highway, my truck loses all power and starts shaking rapidly, once again I was almost involved in an auto accident because I could not merge. When I initially had this issue 50 thousand miles ago, I brought my truck to auto-nation Ford in white bear lake Minnesota, they said it was an issue of spark plugs, wires and coil packs, Ford also said the issue was the inter-cooler. Ford fixed all of those issues roughly 50 thousand miles ago, but here we are, my truck is at 100, xxx miles and this issue happened again! this is a serious safety issue, I have now been run off the road twice and almost crashed into a lake! when my truck loses all power and starts shaking rapidly, I lose control of the half ton truck. I contacted my local Ford dealership, (auto-nation Ford) in white bear lake, where I bought the truck and they would like me to pay in full for all of these issues, which Ford clearly knows about. I know for a fact I am never buying a Ford again, my safety and the safety of my family has now been compromised on multiple occasions and Ford has not once taking responsibility or offered to fix the issue. I am very disgusted with the way Ford has been handling these safety issues. When you buy a brand new truck and things like this happen, the company should take care of you, but once again, Ford has proved that they do not care about their customers.

When shifting the lever to reverse, the transmission does not engage reverse immediately and has a long delay before shifting to reverse. The "R" indicator does not illuminate and the backup lights do not come on even when the transmission engages in reverse. The issue seems to be similar to NHTSA recall #12V190000, but when I contact Ford I am told that there is no recall for my vehicle.

Hello, I just had recall # 16V248 performed on my vehicle (Ford recall # 16S19) (performed on 11/15/2016). I drove the vehicle to work this morning (11/16/2016) and experienced the exact same symptoms outlined in the initial recall. I am going to reach out to the servicing dealer (eby Ford out of goshen, in) and Ford to find out what my next steps are. The vehicle will suddenly downshift into first and slow the vehicle down at a very fast rate. I have to then put my hazard lights on, pull over, turn the vehicle off and start it to get it to come out of first. This happened to me three times in less than a 20 mile commute.

Purchased my F-150 used (private owner), had 8K miles on it. At 10-14K, I've notice when starting off and coming to a stop, there's "jerking" coming from the rear of the truck. Just this pass weekend, I pulled a trailer, a 70 mile round trip, with no "jerking" issues however, once the trailer was removed and I went back to normal driving, the "jerking" started to appear...again. Trying to gather info before heading to Ford.

There is a recall on the 2011 Ford F150. However, my VIN is not the one affected. Even though it is the same transmission and year.I am having the exact same issue being described in the recall and on the forums. I drove the car after it was left for 36 hours and it downshifted after going 25 mph. I coasted back into a parking lot and turned off car and restarted, with the same issue. It eventually gave me a maint error (yellow wrench) I had to have it towed home. After it was shut off overnight if was fine the next day and no error code. I had a mechanic put a scanner on the truck and he could not pull the error code. I have used it sparingly for 3 days without an issue. I am just worried, it will happen again at any time or cause an accident with someone plowing into me when it downshifts. This could be a major problem if I am on a highway and it happens. I called Ford Corp and they said since I am not on the recall per my VIN (even though it is the same year 2011 and transmission) so I am on my own. I have it documented with Ford and the dealer. Now what, just wait?
