My heated seat drivers side became very hot - causing small red spot on my leg. Pulled seat cover which had become distorted and discovered heated seat element had shorted out melting copper wiring and burning a hole in foam seat cushion. Ended up replacing element and leather seat cover on my own just parts cost nearly $600. Contacted Ford customer service three times with no response. Checked google search and there are many people having issues with these elements. I saved cover, and element and have pictures available.

Cpsc: I144350A. 2011 Ford F-150. Consumer stated the electric power steering system lost power. The consumer stated while driving, a block of ice fell off a truck that was ahead of him, and evasive action was not possible due to the ice and traffic volume. The ice stuck the alternator which was positioned 10 inches off the ground on the lower left front of the vehicle. Then vehicle then began to lose electrical power. Eventually, the vehicle lost electrical power steering. He was able to pull hard on the steering wheel and was able to steer a slight curve. He then realized he had no brakes, so he shot across the highway, which was usually busy, and he stomped on the emergency brake and came to a stop. The consumer then discovered there was a fire underneath the engine, but quickly put it out with the snow.

On the night of Dec 20, 2013, I was traveling South on I81 North of syracuse NY. Road conditions were not very good. A block of ice fell off a truck ahead of me, evasive action was not possible due to ice and traffic volume. The ice struck the alternator which is cleverly positioned about 10" off the ground on the lower left front of the vehicle. The vehicle began to lose electrical power system by system. I cant recall the exact sequence, as it was all happening pretty fast. Eventually, the electric power steering system lost power. When this happens on this vehicle, you lose all steering capability. Its not like its just manual steering, there is no steering other than the ability to slightly alter course by pulling extremely hard on the wheel. The vehicle had no lights, the shoulders were unplowed, stopping wasn't a good idea. As good fortune would have it, the cicero NY exit presented itself at that moment. I was able to pull extremely hard on the wheel and was able to steer the slight curve. At the bottom, I discovered I had no breaks. I shot across the usually busy NY 31 and into a kwikstop, where I stomped on the emergency brake and came to a stop. We shortly discovered a fire underneath the engine and were able to extinguish it with snow. I cannot believe a steering system like this is permitted. Had I known it had this system and its limitations, id never have bought the car. If my son and I had been killed that night, it would have all been chalked up to road conditions. In furious about this system. It needs to be recalled.....now.

It was a 20 degree morning so I decided to use the remote start to warm up my truck before I went to work. I climb into the truck and go to back out of the driveway and noticed the rear passenger side slider is shattered. I've never hauled anything in the bed so nothing would have came into contact with the window. After doing a little research, I discovered that there are plenty of Ford owners that this has happened, one gentleman had his child in the back when this happened! fortunately my children were not with me at the time the window shattered. Hopefully Ford will cover this being that it's $800, but I'm guessing they'll tell me it's not they're problem.

I was driving on the highway, in the right lane, doing about 60 mph. For some unknown reason, the truck simply shut off and lost all power. I coasted to the shoulder and waited a minute or so to calm down and decide what to do. I then tried to restart the truck, and it started right up. I nervously drove the rest of the 25 miles or so to my home without incident. The truck also seemed to run fine for the next couple of days until I could get it into the dealership to have it looked at. The dealer determined that the battery was bad (only 2+ years old) and replaced it under warranty. It seems odd to me that the battery was the problem, since the truck restarted easily and ran well for the next few days. However, the new battery does seem to have cured the problem as it hasn't repeated the traveling shut down. I am cautious and nervous now about driving over it for fear it might shut off again. It is actually similar to what the GM cobalt owners experienced, although this does not appear to be ignition related.I have written to Ford to see if they would confirm what the dealer told me - that a weak battery could cause a vehicle to quit while running. I am hoping that by documenting this incident, I will find out if other owners of newer F150S have had similar full speed shut downs. I'm trying to decide whether to keep the truck or sell it because I still don't trust it.

The defrost button would not come on properly. Once it did, approximately 3 to 5 minutes later I heard a loud pop. That is when I noticed by looking in the rear view mirror that the rear drivers side back window had shattered. There was nothing indicating it had been struck by anything. The entire window was still intact. The outdoor temperature was around 27 degrees. 2011 F150 super crew.

It was 15 degrees out, I started the truck Sunday morning, I pushed the rear defrost button and the light would not come on. I waited about 15 minutes for the truck to warm up when I got into the truck, the rear defrost button still was not illuminated even though I pushed it a few times. All of a sudden the rear window shattered. There must be an electrical problem with the F150 rear defrost button. I have read multiple complaints on this site and would like to see the NHTSA investigate the problem and hold Ford accountable. This is not safe! I am requesting that NHTSA investigate the rear window shattering due to a possible shortage with the rear defroster button. I look forward to reading the NHTSA investigation report which will hold Ford liable to replace the damaged items.

I started my vehicle on the morning of Feb 8th, and turned on the rear defroster. Within 1-2 minutes I heard a pop noise and found the glass panel behind the drivers side (one of 3 glass panels) had shattered. No outside impact, it just shattered. I see doing an on-line search there are similar complaints of this problem. I contacted Ford Motor Company and was told seeing as I was out of basic warranty, they would not be able to assist me with the cost of repairs. $625 + tax.

I have already reported this piece of junk but needed to add to the list". we, as of last week, are on our 15th rental while the dealer and Ford are trying to figure out whats wrong with it again?. the engine light has been coming on since the week we bought this junk and is still flashing while we drive?.. the dealer has asked Ford to put in a new engine several times but Ford for some reason wants the dealer to just keep replacing the same parts over and over again?? we have had several new sets of plugs.. the others crack and short out? we've had cam phasers and sensors replaced?? fast forwarding through many parts repeatedly replaced, the dealer now says there are parts sheared off in the engine and are asking Ford, once again to replace the engine". we are waiting on Ford to (probably) decline the dealers recommendation".. Ford stopped calling us back, we have left several messages and they just keep passing the buck onto the poor dealer, who has been trying to help us?.. Ford should have taken this lemon back long ago and gave us a new one?.. our 15th rental might be with us for some time while we wait on an answer?? we sometimes have our rentals for over a month at a time??. its nice to keep paying on time for a vehicle that we don't even have"(sarcasm).

I was driving in highway traffic in the right hand lane at about 70-75 miles per hour. The weather was clear and the temperature was approximately 50 degrees. I encounter a slow moving vehicle and moved into the left hand lane and tried to promptly accelerate to pass a slower vehicle. When I attempted to accelerate the vehicle began to shake violently and go into a very rapid deceleration. The violent vibration of the entire vehicle and rapid deceleration made control a challenge. I moved to the right hand lane reduced speed to 50 mph and continued on to a Ford dealership to have the vehicle evaluated. The dealership found that 3 coils failed which caused the vehicle to vibrate and decelerate rapidly. I had the vehicle repaired.

Truck has a 36 gallon gas tank. Fuel gauge does not go to full when filled. While driving fuel gauge goes to empty and message center comes on low fuel 10 miles to empty. Tank still has 20 gallons or more in tank. When filling with gas after this happens there is a high pressure release of gas fumes from the filler neck when pump nozzle is placed in the neck. An audible whoosh sound is made and the build up of gas fumes is consistent with every time the gauge and message center think the tank is empty. When starting the truck after this occurrence it takes 2-3 tries before the engine will start. The engine malfunction indicator lamp will come on for 3-20 minutes before going off. The Ford vehicle health report reads "engine, transmission, amp; emissions. The truck has been serviced 8 times with no corrective results. My major concern is the build up of fumes and the possibility of fire. It appears that Ford has known of this problem with trucks having 36 gallon tanks since 2008 based on comments from other owners when I googled my problem. To this date Ford does not appear to have a solution to the problem.

Vehicle once when first bought shut down during rain conditions when trying to excel. It was like you ran into a wall. Ford then said it was a wiring harness problem. It continued missing at times over the last two years. The same thing happened again in December while trying to pass a vehicle and it was again during rain conditions and just shut down in the road. We took it into the dealership and they said it was tsb 13 8 1 and made repairs. Vehicle now does not run right and gas mileage has dropped by at lest 2.5 mpg. Noticeable power loss. Vehicle is the Ford 3.5 echo boost. This is a big problem for consumers who want a truck and expect power with good mpg but should not be afraid to drive or get a supposed fix that's not what you have purchased. These situations will result into some very bad accidents. I cant imagine pulling something and this happens. Bottom line consumers deserve safe reliable vehicles. We love Ford and I hate I am having to complain but this is a real big problem. Please investigate. Thanks!!!!

I approaching an intersection and let off the gas, and started to slowdown several hundred yards before coming to intersection. The F-150 suddenly began to accelerate without my foot on the gas and my foot apply as hard as I could to the brake. The truck was accelerating on own. ABS kicked in and pulsed. But again truck was accelerating without my foot on the gas I complete made sure foot was removed and both feet on brakes. Attempted to pump and immediately after relating from brake as pumping to try and stop as hard stop didn't work it was like it was building up and shoot out like a bullet and hit car in front me. Once hit then quit accelerating. The front lifted up and full accelerating but feet were both on brakes. Lucky no one was hurt. Small damage to both vehicle because was as low speed intersection. If there wasn't a vehicle in front me. I would shot into intersection where only who knows what could have occurred to myself and others. This was a life threatening situation, that could have gone really bad.. end result could have been fatal. This needs to be investigated by Ford and no one else should be injured or lives taken from an issue that needs immediate attention and resolution to the vehicle owners that are scared to drive there vehicle because of this occurrence. Ford needs to make this right and make sure all vehicles this is reported on are safe or taken out of commission to make our roads safe for others and drives. I noticed that my truck odometer is traveling further than I am actually traveled. I have told the dealerwhere I bought it from but they say there is no issue. Most recent was I left sacramento California and had some work done on the truck and the odometer read approximately 40,000 miles. Had the truck serviced in bentonville Arkansas and the odometer read approximately 45,000. Upon returning to sacramento, ca. The odometer read, 48,600.it is not 3500miles from bentonville, Arkansas, to sacramento, ca.I took the truck back to the dealer and they continue to tell me there is an issue.truck was bought with 33,700 and now has48,600 miles on it. I have not traveled fifteen thousand since I have had the truck. It is about 8000 miles farther than I have actually traveled.

2011 Ford F150 equipped with 3.5L turbo charged engine traveling at 65 mph began misfiring and suddenly experienced a near total loss of power, causing the vehicle to slow to 25 mph quickly. The vehicle was traveling on a two lane highway with no shoulder and no place to pull off the road. This incident did not pose an immediate threat to car or driver, but under other conditions such as overtaking (passing) slower traffic, the sudden and near total loss of power could be disastrous. After quick research and consultation with the Ford service center where I purchased the truck, I have learned the vehicle entered into "limp" mode to protect itself from mechanical damage. I have also found that this problem has long been acknowledged by Ford Motor Company and has been the subject of a few technical service bulletins. Also to the best of my knowledge, Ford, through this series of technical service bulletin's has failed to provide a permanent solution to this problem. I am filing this complaint in hopes that the NHTSA in cooperation with Ford Motor Company can provide a quick and permanent solution to this problem before someone is seriously injured or worse due to an engineering flaw on a motor vehicle.

Event occurred 3 times over a period from 27 Oct 13 to 21 Nov 13, decelerating while towing a trailer. Speed varied all three times from a high of about 60mph, to a low of 45mph. Message center would turn orange and display a wrench symbol, while the engine discontinues producing power. After pulling over, simply turning the vehicle off, then restarting, everything appears normal again. Two Ford dealers "found no codes", and were unable to further diagnose the issue. The second dealer attempted to collect data via an onboard computer as well, but the event wouldn't repeat while the device was installed, nor was I towing during that time. One of these events occurred on a two lane road with no shoulder available. Traffic had to stop until I restarted. Dangerous at best. The third even occurred going up a one lane freeway flyover. I was able to coast past the bridge structures and onto the shoulder, however, this occurred during rain, and multiple other vehicles had to make accident avoiding maneuvers, including tractor trailer rigs. Very dangerous. I have replaced the vehicle.

The contact owns a 2011 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while driving 70 mph, the advanced track system warning light illuminated and the turn signals became inoperable. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer for a diagnostic test where the dealer stated that the steering gear assembly module malfunctioned and needed to be replaced. The dealer replaced the entire steering system. The contact called the manufacturer and filed a complaint. The failure mileage was 40,487.

Attempted to pass a car. Speed at time of attempt was 55mph. Time 2:20 P.M. and partly cloudy. Two lane road but had plenty of time to pass or an accident could have occurred. Pushed down on accelerator and the engine actually decreased speed/significant deceleration. I let up on gas pedal, maintained speed then was gradually able to pass. Think the turbo had stalled. This had happened once before, shortly after I purchased the truck. At that time I was merging onto interstate and it stalled out, for a shorter duration. After the July 31 incident, I took the truck to Ford to inquire about the issues some owners have had on the eco boast engine, which I have. No codes appeared so I was told they couldn't do anything. Then talked to regional customer service and got the same story. I am very concerned as I use the truck to tow a 26' trailer. When the eco boast turbo works, I have plenty of power to merge or pass. The above experience was scary and I did not have the trailer behind me at the time. Now I feel I can not reasonably depend on it to work as it should. I think it is the turbo but it could be the electronic gas pedal, or the transmission but I really do not think these are the issue. Please help! thank you.

I was traveling in the righthand lane of the East bound side of I24 around manchester, tn. My speed was approximately 65-70 mph. I suddenly came up upon slower traffic in the same lane and signaled to pass the slower traffic. As I looked in my mirrors for traffic behind me I noticed another vehicle closing on me in a hurry. I depressed the accelerator to gain speed and make the pass. The vehicle lurched and the motor suddenly shut down and wouldn't accelerate in the middle of my pass. The vehicle behind me locked their brakes and managed to slow their vehicle down before possibly colliding with me. I let the slower traffic on the right pass and signaled to get back in the right hand lane. This has happened twice to me and I think there is a real possibility this could endanger lives and property if not corrected. My 2011 Ford F-150 is equipped with the 3.5 liter ecoboost V6.
