Was high speed accelerating in NJ from one hwy to another. Long on-ramp. During acceleration from about 40-45mph to get to 65 highway speed, the truck acceleration stopped truck shook, speed declined and the check engine light came on. I let off accelerator and 3-4 seconds later shaking stopped and check engine went off. I slowly came back on with accelerator and issue stopped. Weather conditions was rainy/wet/humid about 60F ~ 1000am. This is 3rd time has happened. First time was shortly after receiving truck new in 2011 ~ April in same conditions and second time about 1 year after that. First time and this time I took to local Ford dealer and they found no codes. This recent I also started losing mpg from normally ~16.9 mpg and down to 12 mpg now. Dealer said they relayed info to Ford and said replace spark plugs as no codes. I have others who have same truck bought for a company fleet with sequential VIN's that have had same issue and had catalytic converters replaced. My dealer said Ford refused.

The contact owns a 2011 Ford F-150. The contact stated when the vehicle was turned on the engine idled excessively and the began to smoke. The failure was experienced numerous times. The vehicle also stalled while driving approximately 20 mph. The contact was a able to drive onto the emergency lane and restart the vehicle; however, when the accelerator pedal was depressed the transmission disengaged and the rpms increased. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing but they were unable to locate the failure. The dealer replaced the turbo charger line; yet, the failure was not corrected. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 20,000. The current mileage was 23,800.

Related to the F-150 ecoboost investigation : PE 13-018 date opened: 05/22/2013. My truck had the same intermittent stumble/misfire on acceleration described in the investigation above. I was driving on a highway early morning during a heavy rain storm. As I accelerated to pass a car the truck began to shake violently and lost all power. I was forced to cut a vehicle off to pull over and shut the truck off. I was able to restart it and bring it to the dealer who told me that nothing was wrong with it.

The vehicle was being driven for approximately 300 miles when while attempting to pass another vehicle (accelerating from ~50 mph to ~65 mph) the engine lost all power. As the vehicle coasted back into the lane of travel power was restored to the engine. The following week the vehicle was inspected by bill brown Ford in livonia, Michigan. The dealer stated they could not find anything wrong with the vehicle but there was a technical service bulletin from Ford for the inter-cooler. However the necessary parts were on back order for over 3 months.

When I'm accelerating the engine stalls, I may be leaving a stop sign climbing over an overpass or passing another slower vehicle. Seems to happen more often about 40mph to 70mph.

It was raining very hard, and I had a cell phone call come in. I was on I-75 southbound. I pulled off the road to take the call. After approximately 15 minutes, I put the truck in "drive" and started to pull back onto I-75. At about 25 mph, I pressed the accelerator to the floor, and it sounded like the turbo waste gate opened fully. The truck stopped moving forward and began to shake very hard. There were 2 semi's coming toward me honking their horns. I released the accelerator and steered toward the shoulder of the road again. The truck limped off the highway, still shaking, but with less vigor. After approximately 2 minutes, the idle smoothed out somewhat, and eventually the truck ran smoothly. It took about 5 minutes. I took the truck to brondes Ford in maumee to have it checked. I had an appointment Friday, June 14. When I explained what had happened, the service advisor said she would have to check with her boss. She came back and told me there was nothing they could do, because no code lights were on and the truck wasn't doing it now. I asked if they could run a diagnostic and she said "no, bring it when it's doing it, and we'll check it". if it happens in front of 2 semi's again, I may not be able to bring it in! I could have been killed! I can't believe they refused to even run a diagnostic on it! this is a serious issue in my mind, but brondes Ford does not seem to feel it is a problem.

My Ford F150 eco boost lost power suddenly while trying to enter a rural route at a stop sign.while trying to accelerate it just died for several seconds and then took off since I was pushing on the accelerator wondering what had just happened.the vehicle has been shuddering a lot on acceleration now with a substantial loss of fuel economy. I have personally had it at two Ford dealership which say they can find no problem with it, but shop foreman told me and my wife we where stuck with it and to fix it by pulling the battery cable off every once in awhile.

Rapid acceleration while passing caused engine to cut out and shudder. The second time it happened in April 2013 I had to pull over and kill the engine so the computer could reset. Took vehicle to Ford dealer for warranty repair, 2 months later the problem has re-occurred.

While attempting to accelerate back to highway speeds after slowing down for a car leaving the highway, my truck lost power and started to shutter. The engine light was flashing and I was unable to maintain highway speeds. I exited the highway and after about 2-3 minutes I was able to accelerate normally. Conditions were wet and the temperature was around 70F.

We just took our F150 (ecoboost V-6) on vacation. On more than one occasion we were trying to accelerate to pass other vehicle's and we lost all power. We merged into the passing lane as we were accelerating and when I applied more throttle we lost speed and power. After this happened once we tried to duplicate it when we on the interstate and pretend we were going to pass other cars. The power loss happened about 50% of the time. Furthermore, this happened when we were just trying to get on the interstate via an on ramp and get up to speed. I did not "floor it" to get on the interstate, I did a more aggressive acceleration and the pickup shuttered and lost power. I asked Ford today (June 5th) if they had a recall on the vehicle and they said they might have an update, but nothing was certain. I consider this a serious safety hazard and we will not be driving the vehicle any more than we have to until this issue get resolved. I wasn't performing perfectly timed passes (we were on the interstate so there was no oncoming traffic) but this could be dangerous.

I was driving at highway speed, and accelerated rapidly to get out of the way of a merging car. The truck shook violently and lost power. I pulled to the side of the road and restarted the vehicle. There was no "check engine light" or any other indicator of a problem during the incident, or after restarting the truck. When I took it to the dealer, they indicated that they found nothing wrong with it. I have driven the truck since then wondering if it would happen again. Now I see that others are experiencing the same issue. Kistler Ford in toledo, Ohio will have a record of this service appointment on 10-21-11, as I have a copy of the service document stating the above. Although I have no way to prove it, the truck has also seemed to have less power since this incident.

I would like to add to the complaints of the eco-boost. I was going about 75 mph on interstate in Alabama. Floored it to pass and engine went dead. Check engine light came on. Coasted to shoulder of highway and it started to sputter and was able to get to gas station on exit about 200 yds away. Turned off engine for about 10 min. Got back on highway(with engine light off ) and was able to make it back home in East Texas. Took to Ford dealership to get looked at. They put on some plate on the turbo cooling radiator. Last month, took it up to Iowa. Coming back, it did it again in tulsa ok. This time engine light on all the way home. Took to dealership, they said a 3 pronged cable, the prongs broke, going to one of the turbos.

Vehicle shifts hard when not under power. When under power vehicle backfires, mis fires, loses acceleration completely. Have brought vehicle to deal 4 times and have been told there is nothing they can do. There is black sut on the exhaust. I do not feel safe driving in the vehicle if it cannot accelerate or will just completely shut off.

The truck has a hesitation at between 50 and 60 mph when going uphill in 6th gear. It feels as though the truck tries to shift but does not. Additionally at least two separate times the truck has lost power when attempting to pass another vehicle. Most recently on 5/29/2013 a vehicle pulled onto the road in front of me when I was driving approximately 55 mph, I pulled around the vehicle and accelerated to make it past the other car and avoid on coming traffic. The truck lost power and seemed to down shift. I let off the gas and tried to press it again with no response. At this point I was beyond the other vehicle and was able to get back into the lane and avoid oncoming traffic. The truck was still losing power so I attempted to press the gas again and the vehicle shuttered multiple times. I let off the gas again and waited a few seconds before accelerating and was able to resume normal driving. The weather was raining an humid at the time of the most recent problem. The truck has been brought to varney Ford in newport Maine at least twice for service of this problem. They have attempted multiple fixes but after the most recent attempt in September 2012 I was advised that the performance may just be "a characteristic of the vehicle" and that they could not do anything else to help. I have not contacted the dealer again because they appear to be unable to help.

Vehicle lost power while accelerating three times two times it was raining. Engine shook acted like it was running on 5 cyl instead of 6. engine is 3.5 ecobost. One time the check engine light came on two times it did not. I sent Ford an email on 12/15/11 and they had me go to my local dealer. The dealer was unable to duplicate the problem and there was no code in the computer. Ford was prompt in answering my email. I understand that NHTSA is looking at the problem and wanted you to have the information.

2011 Ford F 150 with eco boost. When I accelerate the vehicle stalls out, bogs down, looses power and shutters. I have taken in the shop several times and they could not fix it. I recently took it back in and hey changed the spark plugs which helped a little however still really rough. I am thinking of filing. Lawsuit against Ford. I have tied to trade out of the vehicle and I'm upside down because of bad publicity I'm being told. I thought I had. Lemon but I guess it's all the engines.
