The truck on its own downshifted to 1st gear while driving on the freeway at 65-70mph. The check engine light came on. This happened 3 times. The obd error code P0720. The dealer could not find anything wrong with it and returned it without any updates to the software or replacing the speed sensor.

The contact owns a 2011 Ford F-150. While driving 55 mph, the vehicle shifted into first gear on its own. The contact coasted the vehicle over to the side of the road and powered off the engine. The vehicle was restarted and was able to drive normally. The vehicle was taken to bill marsh Ford (located at 408 w mile rd, kalkaska, mi 49646, (231) 258-9192) where the transmission was upgraded. The vehicle was repaired. On another occasion, the engine performed as if it were misfiring. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the engine and timing chain needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. After leaving the independent mechanic and while at a stop sign, the vehicle stalled and the check engine warning indicator illuminated. The vehicle failed to start and was towed to the contact's residence. The vehicle was later taken to another independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that he replaced the timing chain on his own, but not the engine. The vehicle was later taken to bill marsh Ford gaylord (located at 1928 otsego ave, gaylord, mi 49735, (989) 732-6737) where it was diagnosed that the engine valve on the left bank failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired due to the repair fees and still remained at the dealer. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and did not assist. The contact was referred to NHTSA. The approximate failure mileage was 96,000.

Loss of power while driving on interstate. Whether accelerating to pass or the need to accelerate in any instance or any time!! in a recent trip via interstate the truck lost power !! if I would have been traveling on secondary roads and attempting to pass, I do not believe I would have made it. Check engine light came on! I brought it to the repair shop and they ran tests on it and said it did code dtcp0016 when deleting the code it would come back!!! I have parked the truck and was told there were numerous complaints to the ntsb on same problems. I bought the truck new and it only has 56000 miles on it an the Ford service said it was out of warranty I believe this is a safety problem that needs to be addressed!!!

Vehicle runs rough and throws a check engine light. When the engine is warm it runs smoother. After trouble shooting possible problems, it was determined to probably be a sticky valve. It is my understanding, there was a recall on this particular issue. I want to know if this truck was serviced and the issue corrected while owned by the original owner. If yes, it is broken again.

While driving down the highway the fault code for timing chain P0016 came on and engine seized in the middle of the highway. I lost all power steering and brake power which caused me to almost collide with other vehicles trying to get off the highway with no power. After finally getting truck on the off ramp it took all I had to get it to stop at the intersection putting my life and the driver of the SUV at the intersection life in danger.

My check engine light came on, code scanned was P0016. The code scanner states it's an issue with the timing chain loosening over time. The truck has a very prominent rattle sound for about 2-3 seconds upon an initial start up in the cold weather. The other day I went to pass someone, and lost power in the engine and my truck would not accelerate past the car. Ford is aware of the issue, as people all over the country and Canada are having the same issue with 2011-2012 Ford F150 with the ecoboost engine. To me this seems like an obvious safety issue that Ford should take care of. Seems like an engineering flaw to me. The timing chain coming loose, and engine rattling like it's coming apart has to be causing damage as time goes on. The problem I had while trying to pass the car was on a lane 55mph road.

Engine completely turns off or dies and all instruments also turn off. Not able to steer or navigate the vehicle at all. It's completely dead. Also transmission lurches forward with no warning at low speeds causing you to slam on brakes or hit whatever is in front of you.

Truck will have severe intermittent stumble/misfiring on acceleration from 45mph+ in humid, wet or damp conditions. The vehicle shudders violently, bogs down, and check engine light flashes eventually becoming a solid engine light. This involves the engine shuddering when there is acceleration at highway speeds; this is very dangerous when trying to pass vehicles at highway speeds. Have my spark plugs and coils replaced after the following happened in damp and wet weather conditions. Make years seem to involve 2011-14 ecoboost trucks. From thousands of Ford forum posts, the trucks have an intercooler condensation problem that is causing poor performance and spark plugs/coils to fail early. Water and oil vapor/residue condensation is being sucked into the engine. People have had to take it upon themselves to find a solution by drilling a 1/16' hole in the low point of the intercooler driver's side to drain oil/water condensation/residue or install a $400-$500 oil catch can separator which Ford should be offering to owners with this problem. Ford should own this problem and issue an appropriate fix like the oil catch can installation or confirm with its owners that it is ok to drill a weep hole in the intercooler. Not the cheap fixes I have seen like tsb 13-8-1.

The contact owns a 2011 Ford F-150. When the accelerator pedal was depressed, there was a sudden loss of engine power and the vehicle hesitated to the point that it could stall without warning. Capital Ford (3660 S carson St, carson city, nv 89701, (775) 882-5353) was made aware of the failure and advised the contact to schedule a diagnostic appointment. The vehicle hesitated while at a stop, during acceleration, and while making a turn, which caused the contact to have to downshift. Customer service campaign program number: 15N05 (electric vacuum pump recall) was referenced as a possible cause of the failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 110,000.

Bad transmission leadframe assembly as previously identified by Ford in a recall causing vehicle to lose power at 65mph requiring vehicle to be stopped and restarted; Ford has identified issue as 16V-248 but told me that my vehicle missed the campaign as my vehicle build date was 11 days prior to their recall dates; however, my vehicle was built at same plant (dearborn) and had same identical error codes for problem; Ford rep at 866-436-7332 told me that although problem seems the same nothing can be covered; to resolve cost me $751.27. Always occurred while vehicle in motion.

While driving my 2011 F150 I got of I99 at the tyrone exit. While slowing to a stop at about 35 mph the truck shifted from 5thgear to 1st which cause the wheels to squawk and slide almost causing me to lose control, I pulled over in the bk parking lot shut it off an restarted once I put it in gear to drive it showed I was in 5th gear so I shut it off again waited a few minutes S td started it again and this time it was in 3rd so I repeated. The next time it was in first so I drove home the back roads to be safe as I got up to speed it started to act up again the speedometer show I was going 0mph but I was going 25mph again the truck slammed in an out of gear I took it to my local Ford deal they diagnosed it as a lead frame hope this fixes the problem as I'm scared to drive my truck. I do have videos of when its acting up but I cant figure out how to upload them.
