F-150 Limited 6.2L V8

  • Automatic transmission
  • 118,315 miles

Truck dies randomly when accelerating, I have already replaced spark plugs (yes - all 16) and the oxygen sensors. The next thing will be the throttle body but I have read that may not fix it either. It’s happened about 5 times now. Sometimes it goes about 3 months with no issues.

Almost everyday when first driven the truck engine loses power, stutters when gas pedal is depressed and stays at 5-10 mph. Sustained stepping on/off gas eventually evens out problem. Dealer has been unable to diagnose much less repair problem. Sudden loss of power has also occurred at highway speeds necessitating pulling off road. Extremely dangerous. Interestingly, our 2015 Ford Edge is also experiencing same problem. Dealer installed a customer flight recorder and I was able to capture multiple incidents of the failure yesterday, 2/14/2019. Dealer retrieved device and I am awaiting their findings.

Update from Mar 12, 2019: Embarrassed. Dealer installed car "flight recorder". Found that problem occurred when gas and brake had pressure on them simultaneously. This activates fuel cut off...brake takes precedence. Asked if I rode brake with my left foot and I said absolutely not. Turns out the orthopedic brace I wear on right foot was impinging on the brake pedal. All I have to do is ensure right foot is as far as possible away from brake. Problem solved. I wonder how many other similar complaints are for the same reason?

F-150 Lariat Ecoboost

  • Automatic transmission
  • 55,000 miles

Sudden loss of power and shuddering while driving approx. 60 on expressway. Nearly struck by several vehicles as I limped over an overpass I was approaching when it started. Pulled over in a parking lot luckily. Turned off and re-cranked after 15 minutes. NO DASH LIGHTS at all.

Was able to slowly drive to apartment 3-4 miles away. Tried to go to store last night and started shuddering and losing acceleration immediately. Couldn't drive 100 feet.

WTF !! is going on. This truck is NEVER driven harshly and is maintained properly. !!

This seems to be a big enough issue for a Class Action Suit.

My wife was on Freeway with high speed traffic and the truck powered down to nothing and she was in the center lane, she had to wait till 70 MPH traffic passed before she could safely get to curb.

F-150 3.5L Eco

  • Automatic transmission
  • 80,000 miles

My wife and girls use this truck and the thing will lose power and shut down mid ride. It has happened several times and the intervals are shortening. The engine will shutter (I guess because the ignition is on and the truck is in gear still) and the engine light comes on. Luckily she is able to pull over safely and the truck immediately starts up again. Engine warning lights turns off and back she goes. What is this? Sounds like a recall issue and something wrong with the computer system.
