7.5 years old, 50K miles (90% were highway miles), and reasonably well-pampered. When I asked the Ford tech how the fuel pump could go bad at such a young age he remarked, "Maybe you should have driven it more." Aside from a nearly $2K bill and being stranded in the winter, the worst part is that a week after the battery and the fuel pump were replaced, the truck did the exact same thing - it would crank just fine but never start. I had to have it towed again. Ford said "it started just fine for us" and could not find anything wrong with it.
Update from Feb 16, 2021: Minor correction. I found my mileage report. At the time of the reported fuel pump failure, the truck had 51,250 miles on it, not 50,500).
