While travelling at approximately 100 km/h on a highway, entering a gradual right-hand curve, there was a sudden loss of steering control causing the vehicle to swerve into the opposite traffic lane. If another vehicle had been approaching this would have caused a catastrophic, and potentially fatal, head-on collision. This has been reported to Transport Canada.

Over the last several months the AdvanceTrak fault warning light has come on and gone off at irregular intervals. No perceived issues when it came on except turn signal failure. After turning off the vehicle the problem disappeared until the next occurrence. More recently I started to notice the AdvanceTrak warning was coming on much more frequently and when marking sharp turns or when driving on rough road segments. I took the truck to the dealer where I purchased it for diagnostics. I was told the power steering system needs replacing at a cost of about $2000. The truck is a 2012 with 45000 miles so is out of warranty. After checking around I found a long series of complaints about this issue at Car Complaints and other sites. With the number of complaints already and more likely coming, this does not appear to be a rare issue. It also seems like Ford should issue a recall and cover the costs.

I'm seeing that it's going to be a very costly repair for a guy that is on disability. I always get the 100,000 mile extended warranty when i purchase a new vehicle. This is my 5th Ford truck, So I'm a forever Ford guy. There is not a single brand name out there that is perfect.

my 2012 supercrew lariat has a thunkin feeling in the steering wheel as I drive 40/65 mph on a straight smooth road. it is very annoying like something is loose. I already had the steering rack replaced because of a suspension like thunking NOISE I heard all winter in the front end. turned out that steering rack was bad and replaced. it was good for about 2 weeks and then the thunking vibration started in the steering wheel. dealer refuses to fix it,they say they cant feel it when it is so obvious to me and others. service advisor at dealer to me that ford will not pay them for a 2nd repair so I guess it is better for them to say they cant feel anything. now I am stuck with a $48,000 truck that has an IRREGULAR thunkin feeling in the steering wheel. also I had the intercooler tsb done cause motor sucked in water and lost power while I was accelerating to merge onto an interstate. almost caused an 6 car pile-up. that was 3rd week in sept. 2012.

Was driving onto the freeway when suddenly the power steering failed as I was turning left, luckily I was on the outside lane otherwise I would have collided with another vehicle and I was very fortunate I was not on the freeway at higher speeds when the power steering failed. Ford Motor Company probably knows the problems with their faulty electronic power steering and they probably know how dangerous it is to the public but money flows in when customers fix the problem at any cost so they probably laugh while us consumers suffer. Ford EPS on their vehicles is a real serious problem and the problem needs to be addressed before any person is either killed or seriously injured. It's not a matter of if but WHEN.
