I was driving down road approx 30 mph went to make a turn and lost all power steering luckily no other cars aroumd. My vehicle only had 34786 miles on it. Contacted Ford and got no where could not even talk to someone higher up than the complaint department. Went to dealership and found out repair would be $ $1418.59 to replace the electronic power steering rack. I have seen where numerous Ford vehicles have been recalled for this particular power steering.

Adv track service light, code U0428. Dealer says can't replace sensor, need to replace with sensor & rack $1500 to $2000. Come on Ford, if they won't replace original components, and have to buy redesigned system... doesn't that tell you the original design was messed up?

My 6 month pregnant wife was driving the truck when the dash read "power steering assist fault" she lost all power steering and was un able to control the vehicle. Talked to Ford dealership, they said rack is faulty. Thankfully my wife, niece and unborn child where un harmed when the defective piece failed. This is a safety hazard and should be recalled immediately. If they were traveling at high speeds, she wouldn't have been able to control the vehicle on a corner.

The power steering unit had to be replaced, approximately 5 years old and 70,000 miles. We experience the same issue previously with another F150 previously owned. This is a very common issue and should involve a recall. Cost for the repair was over $2000, took 5 days (including the weekend) and was performed at a Ford dealer. Turning was difficult and had we not gotten it fixed, it may have led to complete loss of steering while driving. I drive a lot for work and often on highways with tractor trailers and higher speeds.

Was making a right turn from a state road to a city street the dash display popped up stating there was a power steering assist fault and I lost my power steering immediately. I was able to forcefully turn the steering wheel to avoid going into oncoming traffic. Don't believe my wife would have had the same results. Took vehicle to Ford dealership to be looked at. $1600 later to replace the rack and pinion steering unit which includes the power steering assist mechanism. I was lucky to not get into a crash. After reading about other people having the same issue which did result in a crash, I feel Ford needs to put this on re call notice before a death occurs.

Advancetrac service light comes on. Turn signal quits working. Just like all the thousands of other people with the problem. Apparently the steering can freeze up which is demonstrated on you tube videos!!! needs to be recalled by Ford for major safety concern!!! could kill someone. Are we just waiting till it kills someone"?" hopefully this helps.

We are heading home in a two lane street. It's was raining and there is a lot of cars. In a sudden blink of an eye I was surprised that my steering wheeel of my truck is not moving. It was locked in 11 O'clock angle heading to on coming. I tried to control it no time it's just second, I know it's going to hit and all come out in my voice is mama. The time after accident I'm all shaken. I'm so terrified my friend told me I was in shocked for a little while. When I gain consciousness, I saw my friend hubby trying wake me up. I looked for my boy. I saw my mom in pain, can't move out of my car. I feel numb and my legs are shaking. Seing my boy outside and mom makes me happy. But I'm worried about the car that hit. I cnt walked that far until unbulance took us all.

When turning the wheel, there are stiff to stop points, control is imposable, the truck is dangerous to drive. I can not afford two thousand dollars to repair, spent all I had to buy the truck. City driving is tricky and I could run over someone, I cant drive my truck.
