The contact owns a 2013 Ford F-150. On several occasions, while driving various speeds, the vehicle downshifted and stalled. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was taken to nielson Ford (375 NJ-23, sussex, NJ 07461, (973) 702-8000) multiple times, but no diagnostic failure codes were found and the failure could not be duplicated. The vehicle was not repaired and continued to downshift and stalled. The vehicle was taken back to nielson Ford where it was diagnosed that the lead frame assembly and sleeves needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failures and confirmed that there were no recalls associated with the VIN. The contact was advised to contact NHTSA. The approximate failure mileage was 85,000.

There is a chemical smell that comes and goes from the air vents when the A/C is on.

When the air conditioner is on low and recirculate, there is a strong chemical smell like paint thinner or adhesive coming out of the panel vents. Prolonged exposure causes headaches and dizziness. This occurs at almost any speed and weather condition hot enough to require air conditioning. Has been to dealer 3 times. They can duplicate the problem but cannot fix it.

Engines runs rough especially at idle and other random times through the day. Coolant loss continuing from new in July 2013 to present day May 2014. Evidence of water in oil with milky residue in filler cap. No external leaks. Dealer and Ford say that coolant loss is normal and milky residue in engine oil is normal. Ford will not authorize any repairs.

On Friday morning, May 2, 2013 I pickedup my F150 from the dealer service department after they claimed that the problem was isolated and fixed. I drove to work without any problems, however, in the afternoon on my way home the vehicle stalled and cut off on me. This happened when I accelerated to pass another vehicle. I was lucky to get to the center turning lane and make across to a parking lot without incident. This is the third time this vehicle stalls on me, twice while driving, and have been towed to the dealer four times because of this issue. The mechanic at the dealership claims that the problem comes from the aftermarket light bar I installed and connected to the trailer connector. This claim sounds too ridiculous to even consider it to be the fact. I truly believe that the problem is the ecoboost system since it only happens upon acceleration. Clearly the dealerships service department opted to blame the vehicle owner and not put real effort to fix the problem.

Well after a week or two I noticed like three different things on my new 2013 Ford F-150. A smell coming out of the ac and heater, some days its cold and some days it was hot. It was like a burst of rubbing alcohol and it is just like a burst that comes out every now and than some days more than others, also when I come to a stop I notice my brakes make a clapping notice right when I come to a stop, like a fan coming to a stop. Also I notice the truck does not run a smooth as it did the first two weeks. I have taken it in twice, but they say it is okay.I'm very concern of the smell and because I feel something is wrong, because it does not drive as smooth. Am I crazy?

I was at a complete stop on a main street making a left turn. Traffic was coming in the opposite direction and I was waiting for clearing within the traffic in order to make my left turn. There was an opening in traffic and I stepped on the gas to accelerate across the lane. As I stepped on the gas a message on my dashboard came on stating "low oil pressure" and the vehicle completed stalled. I completely lost all power on the engine and also the steering wheel. The vehicle drifted across the busy lane and barely made it across the lane as traffic was coming directly towards me. Multiple vehicles were coming in my direction and some honked there car horn to get out of the way. This was extremely frightening as I had my baby with me in the back seat. The cars would have clearly hit my vehicle if I had not drifted across that lane. The truck is practically new as it barely has 6724 miles. Updated 10/8/2014

Vehicle went in for service, issue with engine stutter, dealership did PCM re-flash and updated computer program for vehicle. When I went to pick up noticed A/C fan running at high speed and not cycling off. Dealership kept for two more days only to tell me it new procedure in programming. When ambient temp outside is about 93 or above, A/C fan kicks into high speed and stays on because of high head pressure on the A/C compressor. The problem is that it sometimes never goes off while you are driving. It's loud and presents a hazard because of the noise and the potential fire hazard it presents by overheating the fan motor. Ford tells me they put out a bulletin on the matter that basically says this is the new normal. I told them it's a hazard and an unacceptable fix. Please help me to resolve this issue with Ford to fix the matter rather to put a band-aid on it!

I was entering a shared merge lane and attempted to accelerate into the travel lane on my left. It was rainy and I attempted to accelerate briskly. The truck shuddered sharply, lost power and went into "limp home" mode. Several vehicles had to move sharply to avoid me as I returned to the merge lane. The vehicle returned to normal within minutes. This has happened three times since. Always rain and brisk acceleration. The dealership could not see a diagnosis from the computer. They were aware of the problem, said I was current with the service bulletins, and sent me on my way.

1st failure - road little icy. Turned around and truck shut down. 2nd failure - may, 27 2013, drove to town, truck would not start. Left it over night, started in the morning, drove it home. Called Ford dealer said to bring it in. Wouldn't start. Wrecker took it to Ford dealer. They are still working on it.
