This is the SECOND time my intermittent wiper control has failed. This truck is very low miles and suddenly the wipers wouldn't go off completely but was stuck on the first level of intermittent wiping mode. The unit had to be replaced and the truck just went off warranty due to age not mileage. In less than a year and very few miles the unit suddenly quit all together in the middle of a rainstorm mid wipe. Fortunately it started back up but would only work on the highest setting (fastest continuous mode). I believe the wiring is of poor construction or the stupid units themselves. This is a HUGE SAFETY ISSUE especially since we get over 200 inches of rain in Hilo HI each year.

How many of you guys had issues with this, let alone more than once.

This is a work truck and isn't driven much during the year so to have it fail twice in a short period of time sucks! Of course this isn't covered and only the "dealer" can fix it.......

I like my Pick up. It's a great ride. BUT: an intermittent problem has developed in the turn signal/wiper system.

Sometimes the windshield wiper comes on just for fun, without operator assistance. Other times the windshield wiper comes on when the operator uses the turn indicator to signal a right turn. As indicated elsewhere, this is definitely annoying and fails to meet the expectations of the Ford Motor Company engineers, whom I hold in low esteem regarding this failure.

wipers would not cut off on intermittent in off position

I got into my truck to make a scheduled 3 hour trip on a bright sunny day and the wipers would not turn off, just kept going on dry windshield, at first I thought this is crazy why cant I turn off my wipers, it made me think I was crazy for a split second and couldn't remember how to turn off my wipers. Then a second later I knew it wasnt meand that they just would not stop. I called the dealership and when I reached the service department I told the lady that answered what was happening and she said - ` Oh you have the phantom wipers' I replied oh so this is a thing thats happening quite a lot? And she said its enough we have a name for it, just bring it in and we will fix it I am checking for the part now. So I brought it up there and they changed the multi function switch and all is fine now. Just a quick added note my son-in-laws parents have the same truck as I do, on the way to thedealership I called them and they also have this problem randomly.

Just driving along in light rain mist, windshield wipers on delay setting. Ran over a cross crack in the road, felt small jolt then windshield wipers went into continuous operation in high mode. Column control had no effect, except windshield washer control still worked. After the rain stopped wiper motor overheated because of dry windshield and would intermittently shut off then restart on high. Pulled fuse to stop wipers. They would not "park" so had to time fuse pulling to stop wipers at bottom of windshield.

Failure points to a problem in wiper motor park circuit but dealer says it's a "module" in the steering column that has failed. Truck is at dealer, will be there most of a week waiting on parts and the repair.
