I have a 2014 Ford F150 XLT super-crew and its speakers went bad. I have extended warranty so I took it to Jerry's Ford of Alexandria and they diagnosed my issue as a pair of speakers went bad. I called around as I now noted the opportunity to upgrade and was told by three separate Stereo Install companies that speakers don't go bad at the same time unless the head unit (Stereo) caused it. I called the Ford dealer and am waiting for a loaner vehicle as they stated this may take several day's to finally diagnose and repair. I've done searches on this issue and its not all that uncommon to this brand. FORD needs to address this.

I have taken my truck to my local ford dealer to deal with this issue 4 times now. The first time they replaced the speaker , the second time they said they couldn't reproduce the problem, the third tI me they said they have schedule an appointment with a certified electronic tech . And still no resolution. Wtf I just want a fix ! I don't care if it's a new radio , a new speaker... etc. 36500 truck and they can't put a quality radio system in it?

I have read several other instances on the Web, not only just the F150 models but other ford models having the same issue . What's the fix while my truck is still under warranty?

I‘ve had stereo sound issues with this new, 2014 Ford F150 since the day I drove it off the lot. Had it "repaired" multiple times under warranty and the problem still exists. The sound intermittently becomes very warbled and crackling like the worst fast food drive-up you can imagine. The problem comes and goes and tends to happen with the front passenger side door or column speaker. The dealership tried numerous repairs including speaker replacement during my multiple visits, each requiring a 40 mile round trip drive to the dealership, but the problem still occurs. I’ve now had the truck for 2.5 years and have 40,000 miles on the truck. The problem still exists to the point where every time I drive the truck it irritates me and makes me regret buying it. I bought a new Ford Fusion the same day as the new F150 back in 2014 and I love the sound system in the car. I’m now beyond the mileage for warranty and have a truck I can’t stand to drive. From: a lifetime Ford owner and buyer who may be done due to a bad radio.

I have only 30,000 miles on my 2014 F-150 and this is the second time I'll have my truck in the dealership for the driver side door speaker. The first time it went out was around 20K miles and now it's going out again. The speaker cuts in and out and starts buzzing with normal radio operation. I don't have the bass turned up or listen to the radio loud. The first time the speaker went out, it wasn't every time I was in the truck and the dealership required that they actually witness the speaker out. I "got lucky" after work one day and the speaker was buzzing and I stopped in on my way home and they heard it. This time, I took a video of the speaker cutting in and out for proof which I hope they take because I'm not going though that hassle again, especially with my warranty about to expire.

Just an annoying problem...in the old days a new speaker would cure it...new technology is not always better than the old! I just wish the problem would commence all the time...then I could have it fixed! But...I love this truck!

So I bought the truck brand new off the lot. No previous owner. Within two days of owning it I noted that toward the end of a hot day, the front right speaker sounded really warbled and blown. I’m not the type of guy who blasts his music so loud that people 3 cars behind me can feel the vibrations. I mainly listen to talk radio and sometimes I pull out the Pandora app on my phone for long drives and listen to it through Sync. So it's not like I abuse the audio system. I was pretty sure the speaker wasn't blown but couldn't be sure because I don't know how it was treated during the test drives.

The problem persisted. So I took it in to the dealership and they decided that the speaker needed to be replaced. No big deal. But they had to order the speaker, which I thought was odd because it was a big dealership and 2014 is still a new model, I figured they had them laying around, guess not. So I went home and they ordered the speaker. About a week and a half later they finally got the speaker in stock and I made an appointment to have them replace it, took the truck in and waited for about an hour and a half. They said the problem was fixed and I listened to it, everything sounded fine so I took the truck back home.

On the drive home (it was a pretty hot day) the warbling sound slowly started to return and I knew the problem hadn’t been fixed. It wasn’t a blown speaker. So I immediately called the dealership and asked them to look at it in a few days when I drop the truck off for the Xzilon treatment I purchased.

After the treatment I picked up the truck and they told me that the problem wasn’t the speaker, it was with the aftermarket antenna that I installed (a short antenna so I can fit the truck in my garage without the long ass stock antenna). They said after they put a stock antenna on the truck it fixed the problem. I argued with them a bit about the issue and mentioned that the problem persists not only when I listen to the radio, but when I listen to Pandora or Sirius XM or even talk through Bluetooth on my phone. I have to adjust the balance and turn the speaker off just to be able to hear anything because it’s just so damned annoying. I further mentioned that it only seems to happen on hot days after my truck sits outside all day while I am at work. They looked into it further while I waited.

They came back and told me that after reviewing the wiring diagram, they determined that all audio goes through the audio control module (ACM) and that I would likely need a replacement ACM. I was okay with that. I asked them if they wanted me to make the appointment, they said no let’s wait for the part to come in first.

Well that was three weeks ago and I hadn’t heard a thing since. I called a few times and left some messages for the parts guy with no return phone calls. Finally, I had to bug the guy who sold me the car (who, by the way, is an excellent sales associate named Ted). He said he talked to the parts guy and that he would be calling me soon. Well three days later I still hadn’t heard from the parts guy and Ted called me back to make sure I’d heard from him. We played phone tag due to Easter and I left him a voice mail letting him know I hadn’t heard from him yet.

Yesterday Ted called me again to check up on me. I told him still no calls from the parts guy so Ted walked himself over to the counter and put me on speaker with him. Parts guy said the ACM is back ordered and that he’d call me back in a few minutes. That was yesterday, still no returned phone call and I am getting frustrated feeling like the parts and services department is just jerking me around.

I know this complaint is long but it’s pretty frustrating when I buy a brand new vehicle with a problem like this. Other than this one minor issue the truck is great. I love driving it and it’s very comfortable. I just drive constantly for work and not being able to listen to the radio or talk on the phone while driving is exceedingly annoying, especially when I take customer calls constantly and can barely understand them.

Is anybody else experiencing this issue?

Update from Apr 23, 2017: The problem was fixed by having Ford replace the pigtail from the audio control module to the speaker.
