Bought this truck after dealer assured me that the eco-boost problems from previous years have been fixed. Another Ford dealers mechanic told me "don't buy an eco-boost, at 60000 miles the problems begin, eco-boost's are junk". I didn't listen but did buy the extended warranty. My friend had so many problems with his 2014 between 60000 - 100000 miles he finally got rid of it. At 60,000 the timing chain problem happened to mine. Took it to the dealer and they said the problem is very rare, I knew better. They performed the repair after I proved I changed the oil at the correct intervals.
About 3,000 miles after the repair, engine lights started intermittently coming on and then the oil light blinked on 5000 miles. I checked the oil again and it wasn't even on the dip stick. After adding four quarts of oil I drove it to the dealer. They added another quart, inspected for leaks and said an "oil consumption test" was in order. The truck never used a drop of oil for the first 60,000 miles! They also said "no damage was done to the motor, these engines can run on no oil". I asked why then was it so imperative they had proof of my oil changes for the timing chain repair? No response. Never had a bad experience with Ford until this truck and the one before (2011). Now it seems Ford's MO is to deny, deny, deny. I like my truck but don't need or have time to deal with the BS - Honesty from Ford would go a long way. I'm of the opinion they need to scrap the eco-boost entirely. Glad I don't have a GT or the new Raptor. Ford's in for a $%#! storm when those start to go bad.
