Major transmission failure that causes sudden unintended downshift to first gear, even at high speeds. This occurs often and randomly without warning, causing the engine to "redline", rear tires to slide and the vehicle to come to a near sudden stop. This is an extreme safety concern, especially in slippery road conditions as the vehicle could overturn or slide off the road or at a minimum be rear-ended for suddenly stopping unexpectedly on a freeway. This is a widely known problem by Ford. The local Ford service manager admitted that his 2013 F150 has the same issue and he continues to drive it because he tried fixing it by replacing the Molded Lead Plate in the transmission and that didn't resolve the problem. Remember, I noted this is a Ford Service Manager! Ford has issued a recall (24S37); however, the prescribed solution is to have the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) software updated and that prescribed fix actually makes the sudden downshifting happen more often. This is the cheapest, band-aid solution that Ford hides behind so they can say that they are addressing this issue. A second Ford dealership down the road actually admitted that they have identified that the recommended software update actually makes the problem worse and they practically refuses to perform the software update for their customers. After several discussions with Ford's Recall Assistance Team and several discussions with a local dealership's service manager, Ford is not willing to do anything more, despite this major safety issue not only not getting resolved, but actually has gotten worse due to their band-aid approach of a software update. In my case, if further diagnosis is to be performed, I have to be the one that covers that cost and also I would be the one to cover the cost of repairs. To me, this is completely unacceptable. The rational that Ford uses to deny accountability is that the vehicle's computer doesn't register any DTC codes when the incident occurs.

Truck randomly downshifts/ jerks really hard while driving all speeds. On 4/19 I was driving 65mph and truck felt like slamming brakes on, while speedometer pin bounces around, then a wrench showed up on the dash screen, I pulled over turned truck off sat for a few minutes, turned it back on, everything seemed finer and continued driving home, with no more issues. On 4/27 I was coming home from groccery store going about 30-35mph truck dropped down to first gear and then back to 4th gear. My pregnant wife and daughter were in the car when this happened. I've called local Ford dealership, and they ask me to come in for diagnosis, but I know this is a factory recall issue via 24V-444. I'm not sure if the truck is safe to drive, this randomly happens, but seems to be happening more and more frequently past 2 months or

[XXX] was driving the 2014 F150 on a multi lane state road in the afternoon on a sunny and dry afternoon. The vehicle was traveling straight with steady traffic at an intense rate of speed (approximately 45-50 mph) when it all of a changed gears and became difficult for the [XXX] to control, causing the vehicle to hit a guard rail. There was no contributing factors to the accident other than the vehicle's malfunction (i.e. no negative weather, road signals, other vehicles, animal or plant obstructions, intersections, driver error, etc.). At the time of the impact, all of the vehicle's airbags deployed and the driver's seatbelt locked in place. There were no personal injuries - only property damage to the outside of the vehicle, the airbags and seatbelt. Thus far, Ford has refused to replace the airbags, seatbelt/repair the vehicle's property damage despite repeated requests. Ford only fixed the software problem associate with the recall and has taken the position that is the only remedy they are required to do. On [XXX], about 20 minutes into my 30-minute commute, while driving at highway speed, my trucks transmission suddenly downshifted dramatically, jerking and throwing me forward in my seat and causing the truck to slow down so abruptly that I was almost rear ended, putting drivers around and behind me at risk of high-speed collisions. Less than 5 minutes later it happened a second time. This is the exact same abrupt transmission downshift issue that happened to me in this vehicle a few times before in early 2024. I received a Safety Recall notice on this known issue about a week after the first incident in 2024. I took my vehicle into the AutoNation Ford Dealer in Littleton, Colorado immediately after I received that notice and they supposedly 'fixed' the issue under the recall 24S37. Obviously, the issue has not been resolved. I am asking for a deeper look into the safety issue as I am sure I am not the only one this is happening to. I am also concerned that there were no warning lamps or messages that would indicate a problem that needed to be addressed! The truck is currently back at the AutoNation Ford Dealer in Littleton and is available for inspection. They are telling me there is no current recall for this issue. How can that be true if it-??s the exact same problem and their Safety Recall -??repair-?? didn-??t work? I believe the repair was just a software patch, but I can-??t be sure. Can you please help me find out what the recall (24S37) was supposed to fix and why it didn-??t fix the problem? Their suggestion now is to replace the Valve Body with a cost of $2,554.63 (in addition to a $219.95 diagnostic fee). My concern is that even this expensive repair might not actually solve the problem, and I am truly afraid to drive this vehicle. Ford Motor Company issued a recall for my truck (the transmission could suddenly shift into neutral), stating that they needed to update the PCM, and my local dealership service center said they could send an employee out to fix it remotely. I had not experienced the shifting into neutral prior to the "fix". Less than a week later, as I was driving around 35mph, the speedometer dropped to 0 and the transmission stuck in 3rd gear. I waited until the next stop sign and turned off the engine and started it again and it went back to normal. The next day the same issue occurred. The speedometer would drop to 0 and the transmission would stick in whichever gear it was last in. This time is was 5th gear on a highway. I had to pull over and restart it 3 times before it resumed normal driving. I went back to the dealership and they said the electronic update wouldn't have caused the OSS to malfunction and that it was a coincidence that the exact issue I was having was the same as the cause and reason for the recall. I went to an independent Transmission mechanic to have the OSS replaced and it has now been over a month and the problem has not returned. I don't know if the cause of the OSS malfunctioning was a coincidence or if it was related to a faulty electronic update (like if the Ford mechanic didn't disconnect the battery or overloaded an electric charge when he updated the PCM). The warning sign of a wrench did appear each time the OSS would drop to 0. The check engine light went on the first time but not after that.

We took our truck to the local Ford dealership in regards to recall 24S37. There were no issues with the truck before we took it in. They say it was repaired on 1/7. A couple of weeks later the truck gets stuck in 1st gear and the now and at the same time the speedometer shuts down. We have read that if the program update doesn't fix it then they need to replace the leadframe but now they are saying that will be $2000 for them to fix the issue.

Truck started downshifting to 2nd gear at highway speeds, submitted claim, (no recall) Local Ford said no problem with my transmission. I replaced the leadframe in transmission. This fixed the problem. Ford came out with recall, Ford mobile came out and updated software for transmission. Since software update, Started down shifting again, sticking in 5th gear, or sticking in 3rd gear. Wrench came on a few times and engine light randomly comes on and clears too. I have pictures of 5th gear going slow, the wrench appearing and engine toruble light on. See attached pictures.

Received safety recall notice 24S37/ NHTSA recall 24V444 for my 2014 F150. Recall appears to address a safety issue resulting in the pickup downshifting into 1st gear while driving. My pickup was doing this back in 2022. It sat at the dealer for 3 months because it was too dangerous to drive (or sell) and needed a new Lead Frame to correct the problem, but Ford was unable to supply this part. I ultimately had to take it to a transmission shop, where they installed an after market lead frame that fixed the problem at that time (for around $1200). At that time there was a recall for 2015 models and up, but not 2014 models. Recently my pickup began going into safe or limp mode while I was driving, with a big wrench icon appearing on the dash. My mechanic said the engine code indicated the transmission was not communicating with the engine, and that it appeared to be related to this recent recall. Dealership updated the PCM, but this did not fix the problem. Ultimately, had to get a new Lead Frame installed ($1400). Error codes P0721 and P0722 were found, which would seem to apply to the recall. Supposedly the dealership was told that the truck was too old (2014) and and the mileage was too high (102,000) to cover the repair (although, this is a fairly recent recall). Ford customer service told me that the recall only covered the update, not any repairs to fix the underlying problem. Ford will not reimburse me for any of these repairs, but they appear to be related to exactly what the recall was for. Curious what the NHTSA's opinion is. I believe that I put in a complaint with NHTSA for this issue when it first happened. Thanks for your time.

My 2014 F150 was recalled for a software patch pertaining to the lead frame in the transmission because the vehicle would abruptly downshift at any speed. After having the recall performed by a dealership, it continued to have the same issue. I was told by the Service Manager the lead frame was bad but the recall did not cover the repair. For my safety I had the repair done and it cost me $1869.64. I contacted NHTSA and was told the dealership would have to contact Ford Motor Company for a warranty code to cover the cost of the repair. Ford Motor Company said the dealership should pay for the repair up front then get reimbursed by Ford Motor Company. The dealership said only NGTSA can include the lead frame in the recall so I was responsible for the cost of the repair. As of this date (1/7/2025), I'm still out $1859.64. I have the lead frame that was removed from the truck and there are no obvious defects (cracks, buildups, etc) so the issue has to be with the control mechanism within the lead frame that the software patch should have corrected. Why has the recall not been upgraded to include replacing the lead frame?

I was on the recall list and got my OSS sensor reprogrammed at a Ford dealership in August of 2024. November 6, 2024 I was driving down the FRWY at 65 miles an hour. There was a jolt and RPMS dropped to zero, speedometer dropped to zero yet truck was still traveling at a high rate of speed. My info area just gave blank dashes. It was like the things on my dashboard just stopped registering, and eventually a wrench flashed across the screen. My gas pedal was not responding, and I could not accelerate when I pressed the gas. Luckily I was able to coast off of the FRWY with emerg. flashers on without accident. I had to stop at a red light on service road and after stopping truck did not accelerate at light. I turned off the engine and restarted and was able to slowly accelerate at slow speed to make it home. -?'-?'-?'-?'-?'-?'The next morning I took the truck straight to the dealership (maxing at about 20mph- gas just wasn't accelerating like normal) and was told it needed replacement of the transmission electrical frame. I told them about the recall that I recently had reprogramed (august to November 6). The dealership claimed that the recall update and the transmission electrical frame failure was unrelated. They claimed that the transmission electrical frames commonly went out on these trucks and were a known problem but it hasn't been enough to produce a recall. I had to pay about 2k to get my truck fixed. The dealership said if there ever was a recall then I would be reimbursed for the part. -?'-?'-?'-?'-?'-?'What happened to me on that freeway of not being able to accelerate at all was very dangerous as I could not accelerate at all. It was not safe for me to continue on the freeway (or any road really) as my vehicle basically stalled out on me while driving and would not go at all until restarted. I'm very grateful that I was able to get out of that situation safely.

Driving at highway speed, went to accelerate and pass another vehicle on a four-lane highway with my vehicle ending up in the far left lane attempting to pass. Truck lost all power, began to shake violently like it was misfiring, got an illuminated wrench on my dashboard, and at that point began to coast with no power being supplied by the engine. Miraculously I was able to coast across three lanes of highway to the shoulder without being rear ended by traffic moving at 70 mph which would have resulted in a catastrophic accident (endangering myself and my family and others on the road that day). I shut the vehicle off to stop the engine from shaking and misfiring and let it sit about two minutes. I restarted the vehicle, the illuminated wrench went away and the truck idled as normal allowing me to drive another 25 highway miles to my home without incident. Had a mechanic put a diagnostic tool on my truck to see if any error codes were thrown from it which no codes were present. Have taken it to Ford dealership near my home, they have been trying replicate the condition for three days and have been unsuccessful. Their hunch is throttle body assembly needs to be replaced ($675 fix). Quick query of NHTSB reported incidents shows a growing quantifiable history for the Ford F150 3.5L Ecoboost experiencing the exact encounter I had on this day. My family and I along with others on the highway were fortunate the event didn't end up tragically that day. Ford - time to step up and rectify via recall.

I took my 2014 F150 in to Aaron Ford of Lake Elsinore on September 6th 2024 to repair a sudden downshift recall 24S37. The reason for taking the the truck in was because an event happened where I was on the freeway and the truck downshifted into a lower gear. I nearly lost control at that time. They informed me they made the recall repair and everything should work fine now. About a week later on [XXX] while traveling at about 60-70 miles per hour the truck experienced the exact same violent downshift event. This led me to believe the repair had not been made. I called the dealer back and they refused to take the car in for another review and since the recall had been "Completed" they tried to extort me by saying I had to pay the diagnosis fee to get it checked and no other dealer would help me since the repair was marked as "completed." All I ask is that Ford completes the repair as ordered by the NHTSA.

Sanderson Ford in Glendale has no ETA for the defect leadframe in my car. Right now I cant drive my car anymore because the check engine light came on with P0720 - speed sensor error code. When I entered the highway, my truck suddenly shifted from 3rd to 5th so I could not accelerate in a very busy intersection. This because the speed sensor failed. Sanderson Ford does not offer service soon because they dont have an eta for the leadframe. or a loaner vehicle until it can be fixed. What do I do now?

I received a recall letter 24V-444. My 2014 F-150 has repeatedly shown the symptoms described in the recall letter. Truck will downshift to 1st gear at various speeds, and the rear tires will slide when it occurs at a higher speed, and has done so on several occasions. On [XXX] I took vehicle to Auto Gallery Ford in Gaffney SC. They supposedly did the fix recommended. They told me to bring it back if it downshifted again. On the way home from the dealer, it downshifted again on the highway and almost caused an accident. I took the vehicle back and was told that Ford would not pay for the new part needed because a certain code was not showing up upon inspection, regardless of the fact that it has downshifted many times while I was driving. It is progressively getting worse and also showing an illuminated wrench symbol when the downshifting occurs. This is my only vehicle so I have to drive it in this unsafe condition. I recently took my truck to the dealership for the 24S37 recall repair. Later that day, I received a call from the dealership informing me that my truck was ready for pickup. However, approximately 45 seconds after picking it up, I noticed that it was still shifting hard and felt like the transmission was dropping. I immediately contacted the dealership to report the issue. The dealership told me that I could bring the truck back in for another scan but mentioned that if the correct code appeared, I would have to pay for the repairs myself. I decided to take the truck home and parked it, hoping that more information about the recall would become available. Since then, I have called the dealership multiple times, left voice messages, and attempted to get in touch with the service manager, Jeff, but have found it nearly impossible to get a response. I scanned the codes on my truck and identified the following codes: P0715, P0717, and P0731. I am concerned that the recall repair was not completed properly or the initial recall caused that damage and that the issue persists. I am seeking your assistance in ensuring that this matter is resolved appropriately.
