  • 150,000 miles
The contact owns a 2014 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while driving at 45 MPH on a two-lane highway, the vehicle seized on low gear and the rear of the vehicle seized. The ABS did not engage to bring the vehicle to a stop, the rear remained seized causing the contact to rear-end the vehicle in front. No air bags deployed. A police report was filed. The contact sustained a fractured finger, head, and back injuries that required medical attention via the hospital. Due to cost, the contact could not continue his medical treatment. The other vehicle was able to be driven from the scene and the occupant sustained unknown injuries that required medical attention but no further information was available. The vehicle was driven home after the crash. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where the frame was repaired and replaced the damaged front end parts. The vehicle was repaired. The contact mentioned that the transmission was previously rebuilt approximately 3-4 years ago with AAMCO due to an undetermined failure with an unexpected downshift into first gear. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was serviced for NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V444000 (Power Train). The contact was concerned that the failure would recur. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and was referred to the NHTSA Hotline. The failure mileage was 150,000.

I have owned this F-150 since new and most of its life it has been stored indoors. Recently I noted that any time the vehicle is driven in the rain or left outside while it rains, the rear corners of the cab leaks water. The source of that water is a failed seal surrounding the rear window, which I diagnosed in my shop after removing the headliner and other trim in order to observe the leaking with some water and compressed air. The issue that I noted during the repair was that the airbags that are mounted above the rear passenger windows in the headliner on both sides of the vehicles wicked up moisture that had been caught by the headliner. They were both wet to the touch, which was concerning. Further, the airbag inflator which is mounted in the rear corner post of the vehicle and the seatbelt recoil mechanism both also showed signs that they also recieve moisture from this leak. The vehicle is out of warranty, so there is no manufacturer remedy for the issue unless I were to pay for a complete rear window reseal. I did not have a dealer take a look at this issue at this time. Multiple other owners of F150's of this age have had similar issues with water leaking into the cabin and leaching into the airbags, as described in numberous online forums.

While driving at variable speeds, low and high, the passenger airbag off light comes on while an adult passenger is occupying the passenger front seat. Took to ford dealership 4 times but because the VIN does not match a recall had to pay 4 different diagnostic fees. Have videos as proof, does dealership said can-??t recreate issue even with video proof and did nothing to help. Opened 2 cases with Ford Corporate and nothing was done about it. Took vehicle in again and was adamant about this being a recall regardless of VIN matches or not, dealership adjusted weight sensor and told me this would be it and they would not address this issue or my truck anymore, Even though I had told them that my wife is the only passenger and she is pregnant carrying our child. Airbag light indicator illuminates stating the passenger light is off when an adult passenger is in the front passenger seat, has happened at multiple speed from 1 mph up to 50 mph. Could result in an injury or fatality if accident were to occur. Tried to upload the video but nhtsa only allows photos to upload can-??t upload the video.

I have been getting getting airbag symbol on dash for about 3 years. I have brought the truck to 4 different Ford dealers to repair. The first time it came on, I was told to park truck and not drive it by Ford, the airbag could deploy at any time. When I bring the truck to the dealer, they claim to repair issue. After I leave dealer, in about 1 month, the light will come back on. The last Ford dealer (hood in hammond) which has claimed to repaired it, after it came back on, they says that the front seat needs to be removed to repair. Also seat tentioner has been replaced by another Ford dealer. I have had to use my extended warranty and have to pay $100 copay. I have contacted Ford a couple time also. This issue has been going on for about 3 years. I do not know if airbags will work or not. Very dissapointed with the unprofessionalism of dealers (service managers) and Ford customer service. This issue of not knowing if airbags are working properly are not is very distrubing. I am giving an estimate of mileage and date when first occured.

Bought used the air bag light was on. Dealer fixed it once under warranty or recall. The light is back on and out of warranty. The seats belts do not grab at all when heavy on the brakes. There would be no seat belts in a wreck. Plus the vehicle will not pass state inspection. 2014 with 37,000 miles

Vehicle was purchased in 2017. In 2018, occassionally noted that the passenger airbag indicator would switch to off while a passenger was in the seat, with seatbelt fastened. Approached my dealer with the problem, they read codes and found no faults. During a long road trip in 2019/2020, a pattern emerged: When vehicle first started and passenger present, passenger airbag system indicates on. After 20-30 minutes of driving, indicator goes to off. About 50% of the time, unbuckling and retracting passenger seatbelt, then rebuckling, and indicator will come back on. If this fails, truck must have ignition turned off before it will reset and switch airbag on. Have been told by dealership that this vehicle is not part of the 2014/15 recall for issues that match these symptoms. Also told that my expensive extended warranty may not cover a fix (to the main safety system??)... it is dependent on shop inspection and diagnosis.

While I am driving with my pregnant wife in the vehicle the airbag light will illuminate saying that the airbag is off, I have to pull over while driving to have her get out of the vehicle and get back in for the light to turn off. It's a normal street in a development or on the road driving. Different speeds with flat roads, some have bumps others are recently paved asphalt. Happens intermittently, over a dozen times at different speeds. My vehicles VIN doesn't fit the recall for the airbag issue that is already aware by Ford. Took vehicle to Ford dealership 4 times for this same issue, only thong done was a recalibration of the seat weight and exactly 2 weeks and 1 day later light came on again, unable to pull over I drove hoping to find a way to pull over for the safety of my wife and unborn child, the light turned off after 40 seconds of realizing it was on. A fully grown individual sitting in the seat weight 190+lbs has this happening to them. I have video footage and will try to attach it if possible. Most recently it happened today, 2/19/20 at 3:17pm.

The contact owns a 2014 Ford F-150. While the vehicle was at a car wash with the key in the ignition, the contact placed the transmission into neutral, applied the seat belt, depressed the brake pedal, and released the brake pedal, the vehicle accelerated without warning into heavy traffic. The contact attempted to apply the brakes as the vehicle crashed into a building. The air bags failed to deploy. There were no injuries and a police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to a collision center for the body damage and was then taken to tom denchel Ford country prosser (630 wine country rd, prosser, wa 99350, (877) 221-5696) to be diagnosed, but a failure code could not be found. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact that there was no recall associated with the VIN and referred the contact to NHTSA. The failure mileage was approximately 45,783.

The indicator light for the driver side airbag turns on at random times while driving. I had the error codes ran by the dealership and there is a malfunctioning weight sensor in the seat rail, which was recalled for the passenger side of this same make and model. This light coming on will not usually shut off until the truck is shut off and then it will reset. This has been occurring since April of 2019 and has slowly become more consistent. I have taken a photo of each occurrence when the issue started to become more persistent. The last time this happened was June 7th 2019. I have images from May 9, 15, 17, 18, 20, 21, 23 2019 and June 7 2019 where it occurred multiple times that day.

Airbag light has been coming on over the past couple years. I have taken the truck in to Ford dealer service centers for multiple visits and have spent a considerable amount of time and money trying to solve. Most recently, the truck was at the dealer with the airbag light on and while troubleshooting, the light turned off. As soon as the light was off, there was nothing else that could be done other than returning to the service center if/when the light came back on. I have been told that if the airbag light is on, none of the airbags will deploy. This is a very serious safety concern for a modern vehicle that I have been prudent in trying to remediate but have not been able to resolve the issue. Regarding what specifically occurs, when starting the truck either the airbag light will be on or off. If the light is on, it typically remains on and does not shut off regardless of how long the truck is continuously operated. If the light is off, it remains off and does not come on regardless of how long the truck is continuously operated. I have not yet been able to detect a pattern (time of year, weather, amount of time since it was last driven) with when the airbag light comes on.
