So, this truck, as per dealer that fixed it, has the same issue that the 2011-2013 recalled ones had with their transmission. My truck manufacture date happens to be December 2013 but it is labeled a 2014. Ok so common sense says it should be part of the recall. Wrong.. Called Ford and explained everything and asked them to use common sense but as we know that can't happen, so now we have to do the work of getting them to recall the2014 with the same issue. One would think it would have behooved Ford to pay for my repair instead of having me fight for a recall of all 2014 with this transmission issue.

Apparently this is a know issue that is discussed on the Ford Forum. Ford has fixed earlier models (2011 to 2013) that had the same problem but they are not currently covering the 2014.
This could cause injury or death.

I had a 2013 and it did the same thing and they had a recall on it! I can't believe it's still happening - they need to fix this! I'm so disappointed.

While driving to work this morning, traveling at about 50 mph, the speedometer dropped to zero and the engine downshifted to 1st gear, sending the RPM's to the red and skidding my rear tires. I was almost rear ended, but luckily the car behind me noticed the fish tailing. This is going to cause a serious accident and people are going to get hurt if Ford doesn't recognize this problem in the 2014's. The internet is littered with this complaint on tons of sites and there was a recall in the 2011 -2013 model years. An attorney is going to be contacting Ford on my behalf. This is not acceptable. Hopefully Ford does the right thing, before they have deaths on their hands.

this truck i drive does a combo as it starts acting up...... 1. rpms and speedo go haywire. 2. that leads to serious hesitation(sometimes no acceleration possible) 3. its fairly obvious this starts occurring during a cold 3rd gear shift to pass also will jump(on its own) from a 70-75mph right down to first gear.this causes prolonged pegging of the rpms and total locking(screeching) of the rear wheels. 4. as soon as this causes the tranny to warm up...... she drives fine except for a real noticeable 3rd solenoid shift sound(like a whining bearing) when passing/accelerating. 5.long duration of 90mph driving will send the tranny temp deep into the yellow hot zone. sometimes this happens in the 80mph range....Tx has 75mph speed limits

While trying to speed up to get on the freeway onramp, at about 50 mph, suddenly the rpm went very high. The engine rev was very loud. There was a harsh jerking motion kind of like when you go from 4th to 2nd on a manual transmission and pop the clutch. Bypassed the on ramp and went to the curb side lanes. Felt it shift gears and continued on at about 30 mph. It was shifting very erratic even going in to neutral.
On my way to the dealer the next day after 4 miles the erratic shifting began. Went past 40 mph and it would downshift and upshift. Sometimes during the shift change the speedometer would read zero even though I was doing at least 25 mph. It's been at the dealer for 3 days now. No codes have surfaced. Late on the 3rd day, the service rep. and I went for a test drive. After mile 2 it began down shifting, up shifting, speedometer reading zero. Now they know what I was talking about.
Still under extended warranty and I hope they find the issue. I believe it's the same issue the 2011 and 2013 f150 trucks had with their trans. So many others have had the same issue on their 2014 F150. Ford says it's a software update according to their recall which only cover 2011 thru 2013 year models.

2014 F150 downshifts into first gear, rear wheels lock up and it comes to a skidding halt. after research on this issue i find that there was a recall for 2011 and 2012's with the same issue, same transmission as mine. this recall should have included 2014 for f150's too!! I am seeing a lot of complaints of this exact same issue but people are not reporting this to NHTSA so that they can launch an investigation and possibly update the recall to include 2014!!!

April 27 2016 DOCUMENTING that my 2014 F 150 4 door pickup with AUTO transmission DOWNSHIFTS while I am driving in traffic at 45 MPH. It is only a matter of time that FORD will have to acknowledge that this FAULT occurs on 2014 F150 pickups. (the news reported a recall on 2011 and 2012 F150 pickups). I am documenting that this condition occurs on my 2014 F150 5.0 Engine with AUTO TRANNY.

It is very rando. traceling at any speeds it suddenly and abrubtly downshifts into 2nd gear, sometimes squealing tires. if I pull over nad turn the truck on then back on, sometimes that will stop it. lately, it shifted into 1st and wouldn't shift out of 1st.
