  • 64,500 miles
Multiple incidents have occurred where adaptive cruise control applies hard deceleration to the vehicle while at highway speeds without warning or without an object in front of the vehicle. Approx travel speed has been 65mph and vehicle collision warning comes on and instantly brakes causing a 10mph or more deceleration. It has happened on curves or when driving near a truck. Recent incident was moving from right lane to the left lane of a highway to pass a truck and another vehicle was following mine. As I approached the tractor portion of the tractor/trailer, my truck braked hard and the vehicle behind me nearly crashed into the back of my vehicle. The other driver wasn't expecting me to brake while passing another vehicle to its left. This has happened multiple times. I have contacted Ford and they admitted that there is a problem with the adaptive cruise system and that it was a safety issue but they had no plans to fix/recall the issue. Question - how many rear impact accidents/incidents/potential incidents will it take for Ford to address this serious unannounced braking issue. It is very unnerving to be driving at highway speed and then to be thrown forward for no reason because your vehicle brakes. Ford did acknowledge that this is a problem and yet does not wish to address it likely until there is death to lawsuit after which it will have been too late for someone. Please exert whatever pressure you can to get verification from Ford and have them address this problem with a recall before someone is killed. Thank you. Highway speed adaptive cruise control on on curves or straight roads near a tractor trailer collision warning/braking/rapid deceleration nearly causing multiple rear end accidents - many incidents Ford verified but refuses to fix

This issue has now happened 6 times without showing a pattern. While driving the vehicle completely loses all throttle power and the message center displays 'service advancetrac' 'hill start assist disabled' and the ABS and service engine lights illuminate. This has happened on back roads at slower speeds and on highways at 70 mph. Again, all throttle power is lost. This issue has been reported on numerous forums and there have been 2 consensus fixes, replace throttle body and an apparent issue with the tightness of a throttle cable.

My truck odometer shows I have 26582 miles on the truck. And the engine hours shows I have 867 hours. However rusty wallace service department said I have 63000 miles according to the PCM!!! I have transmission problems and they do not want to fix the truck under warranty. I content that the truck is still under warranty I have not done anything to the odometer. I have pictures that show I was doing 72 miles a hour and on the digital speedometer but the other speedometer showed I was doing 90 miles a hour. I parked the truck and it stilled showed I was doing 20 mph. I have attached the photos.

I would like to highlight safety concern on Ford F-150 intake throttle failures. I believe there has been a recall on this part for a different S/N range of Ford F-150. This VIN was not in the list. When this fails, you lose all power and truck goes into neutral. Was towing loaded trailer in 4 lanes of high speed interstate city driving. Almost was in serious accident. Ford customer service did nothing or indicate that they were going to look at S/N range impacted. I am a chief engineer at caterpillar. I understand the business of effective S/N and what is included in mandatory recalls. Their lack of action is a concern.

While driving my 2015 Ford F-150 pickup truck at different speeds of 5 to 70 mph the vehicles throttle becomes inoperable. When this occurs the engine continues to run at a low idle however it is a very rough idle as if the engine has a severe ignition misfire condition. Furthermore, the dash starts to cycle through multiple fault/trouble displays. These include "hill descent control fault", "service advance track", "see manual (w/ wrench symbol)"; also the airbag light is illuminated. When this occurs I have to coast to the side of the freeway or busy city street bringing the vehicle to a stop. Once stopped, with emergency flashers on, I have to turn the ignition off and restart the vehicle. In some instances I've had to restart the vehicle more than once to successfully achieve a smooth running engine. I must then press the "ok" button on the steering wheel to stop the dash from displaying the fault/trouble messages. I can then drive on with an operable throttle and properly running engine. This condition has happened multiple times at various speeds without warning and presents a potentially dangerous driving condition!

While accelerating onto the freeway from the on-ramp, all throttle control went away and the truck started decelerating along with warning lamps turning on the driver display panel. Steep hill descent fault, sensortrac fault. Had to pull coast over to the shoulder under rough idle and turn off the vehicle ignition. After cycling the ignition, the throttle control came back. This has happened at least 5 times now during the last week or so. After a google search online, I have found that this seems to be a very common occurance with Ford F-150's and seems to be related to the electronic throttle body controller. Ford has tsb 16-0139 documenting the issue

The contact owns a 2015 Ford F-150. While driving with the cruise control set at 75 mph, the vehicle started shaking and the speed reduced to 60 mph. The contact stated that it felt as if the brakes were being applied. The contact depressed the accelerator pedal and the rpms increased, but the vehicle failed to accelerate. The contact pulled the vehicle over and looked under the hood, but no issues were found. The vehicle was able to restart and operated normally. The contact stated that the failure occurred twice while the cruise control was engaged. The vehicle was taken to Ford of port richey (10715 us-19, port richey, fl 34668 (727) 478-0975), but the failure was unable to be duplicated. The manufacturer and a congress member for the state of Florida were notified of the failure and a case was opened. The failure mileage was approximately 87,000.

When using the adaptive cruise control (acc) and passing alongside a semi-truck in the left lane, the system mistakenly detects something that causes it to slam on the brakes and set off the crash warning system. A couple of seconds later it accelerated back to your original speed setting. Brought the truck to 2 Ford dealerships and 1 just set the sensitivity level to low and the other one did an update to the control module. Neither of these has worked and the truck continues to do this. I called the dealership and they said they have no other direction from Ford on how to resolve this issue. This has happened over a dozen times since I have owned the vehicle and it is just a matter of time before this will cause a major accident especially when I have vehicles following behind me alongside a semi.

I received a recall notice, 15S29, to reprogram my F-150's control system to correct an adaptive cruse control issue. I had this recall work performed by my Ford dealership in March, 2017. I was on a road trip this week (4-4-2017) and was traveling on the I-35 interstate at 75 mph passing a semi. About half way passed the semi the brakes were suddenly applied and the warning flasher (on the windshield) activated. I thought this was fixed!! thankfully the vehicle behind me was able to brake to avoid a rear collision. Is there still an issue with this" if so when will it be fixed"

This is the fourth time I'm reporting this. Although my vehicle should have qualified for Ford's recall 15S29, I was never notified. But I have mentioned it to my dealer 3 or 4 different times. They always tell me there's nothing they can do. So here's the issue. When driving on the highway, my truck thinks I'm going to hit something and the alert lights and sounds come on (and once since I had adaptive cruise control on, it applied the brakes at 70 mph). This is not safe. The dealerships say there is nothing they can do to fix my truck, yet the issue keeps happening.

This is a work truck driven by several people. Vehicle will sometimes keep accelerating without pedal being depressed. Also will not disengage cruise control. Have to shift to neutral and wait a few seconds for engine RPM to lower. Check engine light doesn't come on. Has been to Ford dealer on 12/05/16 and 12/20/16-1/10/17. They said they couldn't replicate problem.

Adaptive cruise control periodically detects a truck in the right as being in front of me. It activates the brakes to avoid a assumed collision even though the lane is clear ahead. The brakes have, on occasion, be applied automatically in a very strong manner. I am afraid that this condition can lead to someone rear ending my truck. The dealer could not confirm any issues, however it has happened own occasion since new.

The adaptive cruise control was updated when the recall was issued but still exhibits the problem of slamming on the brakes when passing a semi. The problem is actually getting worse, and happens more frequently. It now happens when going under a bridge. I have had it to 2 different dealers and contacted Ford and they all tell me that there are no computer error codes therefore it didn't happen. They also tell me that there is no recall because I already had the recall service performed. This truck is not safe, it will kill me or whoever is unlucky enough to be following me. Ford doesn't seem to care because they have already performed the recall service.

On Friday 10/28 while driving down the interstate at about 55 miles/hour at approximately 6:30pm with vehicles ahead of and behind my truck, the vehicle began to give a number of check engine alerts, at which time the engine rpms dropped to very low levels and began to stall and the accelerator no longer responded. Had truck towed to the nearest dealership within the hour. I was very lucky in this situation, for had I been in a construction area or on a bridge, the situation could have been much worse. This same situation occurred on the evening of 10/2 while driving 40mph down a state road near my home and according to the dealer who attended to the issue, the brake module had failed which caused the symptoms to arise. In that instance, the accelerate failed to respond and the engine began to stall, which it did when I pulled to the side of the road. They replaced the module a few days later. In addition, the driver side door vibrates and does not latch properly. Two dealers have failed to resolve this issue to date and I believe it is a safety concern that has largely been dismissed by the service technicians and dealerships involved. Despite numerous documented attempts to resolve this issue with Ford customer service, they have ignored this concern, have failed to respond to me in a timely manner, and declined a buyback request. I am submitting lemon law documentation for the vehicle during the week of October 31. I have spent hundreds of dollars on rental vehicles during attempted repairs to the doors and the brake module since Ford claims they will not cover the cost of rental vehicles during warranty repairs. Repair documentation attached pertains to repairs for 10/2 occurrence since the dealership has not yet had an opportunity to inspect my vehicle since it was dropped off yesterday evening. I will gladly provide info once received.
