Letter from congressman bilirakis on behalf of constituent re 2015 Ford F-150 safety concerns when the cruise control is applied his car would slow down instantly as if the breaks were applied. Updated 11/08/2017

The contact owns a 2015 Ford F-150. While driving approximately 70 mph, the push start button was touched and the vehicle shut off while still in drive, causing the vehicle to slow down in the middle of traffic. The contact was able to pull over and restart the vehicle. The contact tested the failure at various speeds and the failure recurred. The contact spoke with the dealer who stated that there was no recall related to the failure; however, the dealer also stated that the cruise control needed to reprogrammed and further inspection was needed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 6,000.
