F-150 King Ranch 3.5L V6 Ecoboost

  • Automatic transmission
  • 38,100 miles

Since the truck was NEW, the 4WD sounded rough. I have never owned a 4WD vehicle before so I thought it was normal. I took my F-150 into the dealer for a separate issue (rear differential whine) and the tech found a bad IWE and CV axle in the front left of the vehicle. Now that was outstanding customer service. It was covered under warranty and they fixed a problem I didn't even know I had. Ford finally scores a point for quality customer service and owning up to the 3rd major power train issue with my truck in less than 3 years.

F-150 Larado 3.5eb

  • Automatic transmission
  • 15,000 miles

I heard a very slight noise in the left front wheel area, sounded like tire noise. When changing to 4A the noise would change. When changing back to 2H the noise would go away and then come back in about 3 seconds. The dealer thought it to be a IWE but upon further inspection the carrier bearing in the front diff was failing. This contaminated the entire differential with metal. Ford replace the entire front diff.

F-150 Lariat 5.0L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 4,600 miles

I felt a soft vibration and growl coming from the front of the truck. I brought it to the dealership and they verified the concern. They checked the front differential and found metal fragments in it so they said the needed to change the differential. They did and road tested the truck and stated that the noise was still there. Now they said they need to replace the transfer case. I bought this truck brand new off the lot with a list of almost 60k. There is only about 4K miles on it and it has never been in the snow or 4 wheel drive. Do they not conduct quality checks before they leave the factory. Now I have a brand new truck that needs repairs. Needless to say I am very disappointed. So far I have no problem with cooperation from the dealership but we will see.
