F-150 XLT 5.0L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 41,632 miles

On the Transmission cooler lines, there is a bracket that holds the lines just below the engine. This bracket transfers the heat from the engine to the transmission cooler lines, and then they rot out. This leaves the owner stranded as you cannot add more transmission fluid to the transmission do to the fact that they took away the transmission dipstick. Now you have to put the transmission on a ramp and us a pump to put fluid in (or even check on the fluid level...)

So check on these lines often and if you seen any transmission fluid, get it repaired asap. And please note that these lines apparently go often and the dealer may not have any left in stock... Mine didn't and had to order more in. Now I still have to wait another 2 and a half weeks to get my truck in (or do the repairs myself)...

Ford should issue a recall for this as is a real design flaw that causes the truck to be unusable. Contacted Ford and told they would not do anything for me unless I brought truck to garage. But, I am not supposed to drive truck... Catch 22. Thanks Ford...

Next truck will be anything but a Ford...
