The contact owns a 2017 Ford F-150. While operating the vehicle at various speeds and turning in either direction, the rear driver and passenger side doors would suddenly unlatch and open. The failure occur while the doors were in the locked position and when the weather temperature was below 15 degrees Fahrenheit. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer (corry Ford, 13626 rt.6, corry, pa 16407) and repaired per NHTSA campaign number: 17V652000 (latches/locks/linkages); however, the failure recurred. After repairing the vehicle a second time, the failure continued. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 15,000. Consumer stated door doesn't shut and latch does not work. Updated 12/13/18

The air bags did not deploy. A police report was filed. The contact stated that the driver sustained head, neck, and back injuries that required medical attention. The vehicle was taken to springfield Ford Lincoln (50 baltimore pike, springfield, pa 19064), but was not diagnosed. The vehicle was repaired per NHTSA campaign number: 17V652000 (latches/locks/linkages); however, the remedy failed. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 3,200.

The contact stated that it took numerous attempts to close the door. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. Woodhouse Ford (2546 South highway 30 blair, ne) was contacted and confirmed that the parts were not available for the recall remedy. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue and was not able to confirm when the parts were to become available. The failure mileage was approximately 2,500. VIN tool confirms parts not available.
