Steering became very stiff. I could hardly turn the wheel sometimes, so I took it in and the epas system, rack and module were replaced. When I got it back, the steering was better but still stiff and notchy, so I brought it right back and now they are blaming the steering shaft. I will get it back next week. I think this problem is inherent in the system and cannot be properly fixed.
Ford has had nothing but problems with this system since they brought it in about ten years ago, it's all just ridiculous. If it is not perfect this time around, I may have to get a F350 - at least they still have hydraulic power steering but there is also the death wobble to consider. Maybe I'll just throw a saddle on my horse and call it a day.

I got 4 warning messages when starting my truck in the morning. Steering assist failure, hill control, traction control and one other. I took it to the dealer and they seemed familiar with the problem. They gave me an appointment for a month from now, so I'm not sure how this will play out. The truck is usable but has no power steering.

I recently took an extended camping trip with my 2017 Ford F150 Lariat V6 Eco Boost towing a 6000 pound RV trailer. The second day out I started experiencing a momentary loss of steering control. The loss of control incidents continued any time I rounded curves, undulating road surfaces or where the pavement was uneven. This was particularly unnerving driving through the mountains of Colorado. Imagine going down mountain into a curve where the road then goes uphill, in the middle of the curve I would have a momentary loss of steering and the vehicle felt as if it were going. This continued until later in the day I received multiple warning messages on the dash display. They included Steering Assist Failure, Service Advance Trac, Hill Descent Fault, and Collision Warning not available. Needless to say I was alarmed that a brand new truck with 6000 miles would have a major safety issue with steering. I called my dealer and they said you should be ok until you return home but that the truck needs to have service work. I continued to have the steering issue and received the same warning messages two more times.
When I returned I immediately took the truck to my dealer. They cleared the error codes generated by the Steering assist failure without performing any repair work. This did not resolve the loss of steering control issue so I took the truck back in a second time. The dealer has now had the truck for two weeks without repairing the steering problem. The dealer says they are 95% sure they need to replace the Power Steering Module (EPAS) and the Rack and Pinon steering to fix this dangerous steering issue. However, Ford won't authorize a warranty repair because the codes (UO415) were not being generated any longer after they cleared them the first visit. I suspect code generation is also an issue since the problem still exists but codes are not being generated.
I don't feel the truck is safe to drive. I plan to ask to speak with a Ford rep to hopefully get them to approve the repair.
I welcome any advice as to how to handle this issue with Ford. This is my first Ford vehicle and I like the truck. However, with a major steering issue going unresolved this may be the last Ford vehicle I purchase.

Update from Aug 21, 2018: I took my F150 Lariat into Auto Nation dealership in Littleton, CO to fix the loss of steering control. They kept the truck about two weeks before getting a PSCM failure from the network pinpoint testing. They received a RVC code of RP215GWCT87T3. After obtaining this code from the Ford testing software they replaced EPAS steering gear, performed EPAS steering gear module programming. They also performed front end alignment check and adjusted the front toe to spec.
The repair did not eliminate the loss of steering control. For a while it seemed a little better but now 60 days later the issue remains. While I am negotiating a turn the steering wheel will overcompensate an steer the vehicle further to the left if I don't correct it by turning the steering wheel back to the right. The steering wheel actually moves my hands to the left. This also happens on uneven pavement. I am taking the vehicle back to the dealer this week for the third time. The dealer seems empathetic but I feel they don't believe it's a serious issue. I'm starting to believe this may be a shortcoming of the Ford electronic steering system which cannot be fixed. Not knowing if this can be fixed presents a dilemma. I would like to know if other Ford F150 owners are having similar issues with steering.
Bottom line knowing what I know now I would never buy a Ford F150

I was towing a 7000 pound RV in my new 2017 F-150. After pulling out of a rest stop,500 miles into our trip, and only 1991 miles on truck, got these 4 messages on the dash: Steering assist fault service required Hill Start assist not available Service advance trac Hill descent control fault Has hard steering, pulls to left and right at different times Called Femont Ford dealership in Fremont, MI, went in for diagnosis. They retrieved codes C0051:64 from PCSM and ABS modules. Cleared codes, test drove it, found no further issues. Sent me on my way. Two hours later, hooked up RV, left campground, and within 1 mile, came to a stop, made a right turn, began accelerating and got 2 of the messages again. Steering assist fault service required Hill Start assist not available Went to KRAPOHL's Ford dealership in Mt. Pleasant, MI. They were familiar with the issue. Diagnosed the problem. They got the same code, plus one more: u0415:00. Then performed interactive pinpoint test A for EPAS. A1-22 results is replace EPAS module RVC: RPXHVNE8T87AY. They said it would take 2 days to order it, but, safe to drive. I will get this done at a 3rd dealership next week.

When operating the vehicle at 70-75 mph on a vacation, after several hours, the steering felt heavy and then began responding awkwardly. locking to the right and oversteering to the left upon correcting the hard right pull. The vehicle was extremely difficult to control.
After leaving the highway and making a number of turns in both directions, the problem was not evident. The next day when we continued the trip, as soon as the truck warmed up it repeated the steering problems.
When I returned home, I brought it to the dealership and they could not find anything wrong with the steering system.
I have reported the problem in detail to the NHTSA.
