F-150 Raptor 3.2L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 89,000 miles

I have repeatedly brought my F150 in for transmission service. I have been experiencing the exact same problems referred to in the lawsuit against Ford for the ten-speed transmission about hard shifting and slamming into gear and fear that something is going to break! I have brought it in 4 times for the same problem. One time Ford had my truck for two weeks and didn't even touch it until I raised some hell then only received what apparently was just a patch-up because I am scheduled once again to bring the truck back in for the fifth time to rear the transmission.

How many times should I have to bring the truck in for the same repair? Each time I have to pay my deductible to repair the same problem. If Ford is aware of this problem then why won't they fix it permanently and what happens when my extended Ford warranty becomes expired??? The dealership charged me $5000 over the sticker price for this truck bringing my cost to $75,000 bucks. So not only have a paid too much for the truck but it has become faulty. I would very much like to become part of this lawsuit to Ford as a collaborating whiteness and victim.

F-150 Platinum 3.5L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 33,000 miles

First shift in the morning was super hard. They reprogrammed the transmission and the result is worse. Slips, slide shifts with the occasional hard shift. Really annoying from a "high" technology transmission. The Ram truck shifts like a dream, why can't Ford get it right?

F-150 XLT 5.0L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 58,470 miles

This is a significant problem. Ford is not honoring the problem with a reliable solution. The TSB reset is not working to fix the shifting issue. There are two issues with the transmission. 1 it is shifting hard when downshifting. 2 when approaching a turn, letting off the accelerator, when re-applying accelerator a loud clunk happens. Feels like damage is occurring to transmission.

F-150 XLT 3.5L Eco

  • Automatic transmission
  • 6,214 miles

The 10 speed transmission is not as smooth as publicized. I am getting hard shifts every once a while (few times a week) with no specific pattern (down shift, up shift, slowing down, acceleration). It is like being hit in the back of the truck. See Ford bulletin -- 18–2079 (which has been applied to my truck with no positive results).

Issue: Some 2017 F-150/Raptor vehicles equipped with a 10R80 automatic transmission built on or before 1-Aug-2017 may exhibit harsh or delayed shifts ...

F-150 XLT 5.0L V8

  • Automatic transmission
  • 1,068 miles

Was reading some other concerns on this website so I wanted to share.

I bought a new 2017 F-150 in October of 17. I have also noticed when downshifting that it skips 2nd all together and goes straight to 1st. Noticed this when had about 300 miles on the truck and now have a little over 1000. I will continue to monitor but it should not do that in my opinion. Sometimes, it does feel like it is jerking because it is literally skipping a gear and downshifting hard. As more miles are put on the truck, the worse I suspect that this may get.

If anyone has the same issue or know if this will be recalled then please share. I would think that Ford would want to get this fixed. I have owned several Ford trucks and this is the only one that I have seen that did this.

F-150 XLT 5.0L V8

  • Automatic transmission
  • 15 miles

I have a 2017 F150. Bought it with 10 miles on it and it now has about 3000 miles. Mine is the 6 speed V8 5.0 Fx4 xlt with the tow and sport package. The issue I am having is that when coming to a stop my truck will shutter into first go and nudge me forward. It's conserning because it has just gotten worse and apparently Ford has no idea of this issue. The video attached shows my truck shifting from 6-5-4-3-1 Skipping second gear on the down shift EVERY TIME! If you keep the truck in drive (not manual) and use the plus and minus button, it will force the truck to not go into the gear highlighted. What I did was followed the gears down and once it was in 3rd going about 15 mph, I hit the minus button and forced it into second and it shifted to first on its own. Smoothest I have ever felt anything shift. When I attempt this method in manual mode, a little bump and a nudge and less of a shutter, if any. Forcing the truck into second gear using the plus and minus buttons does not cause the truck any problems. Also does not shudder as much when the vehicle is just started. After about 5 minutes, it's a different story. Seeing that mine has 3000 miles, it has done nothing but get worse. I have taken mine to one dealership already and the mechanic himself told me this: "I notice the issue that you are having but we need you to drive it for 3 - 6 more months and wait until Ford comes out with another update." This is a bull answer. I called Ford myself and they said that answer is not valid. They can always call for an engineer from Ford to personally take a look at it. Ford also is not aware of this issue according to the person I talked to at Ford.

If anyone else is having this issue or has had a dealer successfully fix this issue please please PLEASE let me know.

F-150 Ecoboost 3.5L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 1,400 miles

I leased a new F150 3.5 ecoboost with 10 speed transmission and all the towing options I could find. The trans shifts through the gears hard and skips. example 1 to 3 to 6 to 8 to 10. down 10 to 8 to 4 to 1. these are sometimes hard shifts and at first startup sounds like some thing is loose or coming apart. the trans was already replaced once at 1400 miles because the truck would not move. do not try to check fluid, there is no dip stick. I am afraid to use the truck for towing and I am counting the days for my lease to end on what has become a very expensive and large car.

F-150 XLT 5.0L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 3,500 miles

I've noticed this since the day I drove it off the lot, but thought it was normal being a new truck. Whenever slowing down to a stop, I notice a hard jerk on the transmission when I let off the brake to continue driving. I noticed when slowing, the truck goes from 3rd gear to 1st, skipping second gear. It almost feels like someone slightly bumping into my rear end. When I have the shifter in manual mode, it does not produce the same jerk when I downshift from 3-2-1. It also happens almost every time I slow to a stop, then proceed. I have not taken it to the dealership yet, thinking it would go away the more I drove the truck, but it hasn't. Hopefully they don't say this is normal, because I do not like the way it acts.
