F-150

  • Automatic transmission
  • 102,000 miles

I bought a 2017 Ford Escape in 2018 via an auto broker. After the vehicle reached 72,000 is when I encountered its first of four times now the transmission has "gone out". I have an extended warranty so most of the price has been covered by them.

Since that time I have had the same problem occur 3 additional times. I have taken the vehicle to different mechanics to see if this failure on part of the mechanic. I have been told the transmission keeps being burned out. First, I get the burning smell of the fluid and then I might get a sensor warning indicating the transmission is overheating and sometimes I did not.

In each event the warranty company is sending a used transmission. I confirmed on the second and third time the transmission burned out that the torque convertor and other assembly were brand new. I am not sure that is correct and cannot verify that.

At this point it is sitting at the shop of transmission specialist. I am not sure if this is because of one of the following;

1. Faulty substandard parts supplied by the extended warranty company.

2. Ford's design of the Escape transmission is defective. I confirmed with a number of trans mechanics in my area the Escape is notorious for transmission issues and they see a lot of customers with the same issue.

3. Both a substandard transmission created by Ford and subpar parts being supplied by the warranty company.

At this point I have no idea what to do. I would greatly appreciate any suggestions and tips that come my way so thank you in advance.
