The thin decorative steel cover on the wheel lug nuts are cracking at the corners and deforming to the extent that they would be difficult to get off with the provided tire wrench in a roadside tire failure. My tire shop had to drive a socket on, then drive it off.

The contact owns a 2017 Ford F-150. The contact stated that upon taking her vehicle to a dealer for an inspection, the contact was informed by the service agent that the lug nuts were swollen due to moisture and needed to be replaced. The service agent provided her an estimate for the repair; however, the contact contested that the defect was a manufacturer defect and that she should not be charged for the repair.
