While driving down interstate 10, my transmission abruptly downshifted to 1 at ~55 mph!! this was the worst of several instances of the transmission either failing to shift properly or jerking the vehicle when shifting gears. I've also had the vehicle stuck in 2nd gear while trying to enter the freeway. The dealership and Ford Motor Company show no concern as they rely on service codes instead of road tests and customer input. I hope I'm able to get another vehicle from a manufacturer I can trust. It's unfortunate because I have owned Ford F-150S for the past 6 years and driven them since high school. This new 10-speed transmission should've never been released to the public. I see others are having the same issue so hopefully a class action lawsuit is soon to follow!

Power is being transferred to the driveshaft when starting the vehicle in park, making the driveshaft spin backwards. A loud mechanical clunk is heard from the transmission when occurring. The vehicle is stationary when starting. After 6 weeks and three attempts to repair, Ford stated "this gear state is ideal for anticipation of an engagement but also generates a positive drag to the driveline and can cause a rocking sensation of the vehicle at or just after engine start in park. The 2 loaner F-150S driven while waiting with the 10R80 transmission did not exhibit the condition.

2,363 miles on the truck it downshifted on the hwy from 80 mph to 20 mph on its own, with a loud noise. Had to get in the slow lane so not to have a wreck. It is equipped with auto start, where the truck engine automatically stops at a stop sign or light and restarts on its own. The trucked shut itself off while in traffic and had to be put in park and restarted, almost causing a wreck. Took the truck back to the dealer again, when it made a loud noise and felt like we hit something when going 55 mph, the truck jolted we again got in the slow lane. Then when sitting in the driveway the motor started racing on its own not touching the excelerator. Had to turn off truck. We are afraid to take our grandkids in our new 2018 truck we are paying dearly for. The last time we took the truck to the dealer, they said there was nothing wrong with it. We are about to retire and wanted this truck to be our last, we have not even had it a year. We have done some checking online, we are not the only ones experiencing these types of problems.

Intermittent transmission hesitation under acceleration, while pulling into traffic from a side street. Without warning the truck completely cuts out. The engine is still running but there is no forward acceleration from the truck. This lasts about 10 seconds. Two incidents so far. Also very heavy, abrupt shifting, jerking shifting. Also intermittent when shifting the truck into reverse while stationary there is a loud heavy clunk from the transmission.

Parked in a gas station parking spot. I put the truck into park and left the vehicle on for the family. I took one of my children into the store. My wife opens her passenger door and stepped out to pick up a little mess. While in park the truck moved forward a bit and started to roll back. Somehow the truck was in park or showed it was in park (it didnt move when I let off the brake prior to getting out or as I got out of the truck). After struggling from outside of the passenger side and the truck rolling back about 50 feet, my wife managed to get the shifter into park (again). The passenger door hit a concrete post and opened the door beyond what the hinges allow

My daughter's kids that she nanny's was getting out of her vehicle and had her door open. Before I could reach the brake pedal my truck ran into her open door creasing it and almost crushing the boy that was exiting the vehicle.

My truck has 15,000 miles on it. The acceleration will run away frequently (press the pedal and there is a severe lag and lack of power). There will be random engine noise when decelerating around 45 miles per hour. Also, acceleration will be rough when going from 20-30 miles per hour just before the it shifts into a higher gear. I took this to the Ford dealer and they said there are no error codes on the trucks computer system. Also, the steering will be stiff or unaligned at random times. Please assist in getting these issues corrected.

The driver side rear view mirror has a double image. This makes night driving and identifying object in the mirror more difficult. It duplicates headlights which at night creates more light in the drivers face making it more difficult to see the road. The mirror has been this way since it was test driven the drive train issue, at 7,000 miles the truck has developed a whining sound while accelerating the dealer belies this is the pinion bearing.

Danger!! potential extreme injury or death possible. These issues must be addressed by Ford. Vehicle speed control:engine accelerating on its own when in reverse. Braking: Would slow down but will accelerate when brake was released upon reverse. Upon reversing up an uphill local side street driveway, braking, and releasing the brake, the vehicle accelerated in less than one second at a tremendous speed. When the vehicle was put into drive from reverse, the engine created a high-pitched whining sound. Had there been the children in the driveway, they would have been killed. There is also a whining sound from the engine when it is running. Changing gear from reverse to drive: Engine creates a high-pitched whining sound reverse up a slight hill: Reversing up a small hill immensely accelerates on its own. We notified the dealership when we received the vehicle, but it was not corrected.

The contact owns a 2018 Ford F-150. While driving various speeds, the vehicle hesitated to accelerate while depressing the accelerator pedal. Also, a clunking noise was present when the transmission switched gears and the vehicle felt different. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. Nye Ford (1555 upper lennix ave, onye, NY) and the manufacturer were notified of the failure. The VIN was not available. The failure mileage was 14,000.

Started vehicle as usual, shifted the shifter from park to drive. The vehicle appeared to be in drive but the transmission was in reverse. Releasing the brake pedal confirmed that the transmission was in reverse (vehicle moved backwards) but the shifter showed drive. I then shifted the shifter to park but the transmission remained stuck in reverse. Once I turned off the engine I could not restart because the transmission was stuck in reverse even though the shifter showed it was in park. Had the vehicle towed to dealership for repair. This event happened in my driveway and did not result in damage or injuries.

Since purchasing the truck, the 10 speed automatic transmission doesn't seem to shift smoothly in many gears. It seems to lurch when shifting at often times and will skip gears when sifting quite frequently. For a new vehicle it doesn't shift smoothly at all. It's been serviced at an authorized Ford dealer where they told me the transmission was reprogrammed due to a technical service bulletin but even since then it still doesn't shift smoothly. It happens pretty much everyday or every time I drive it since it was purchased.

This vehicle generally exhibits harsh upshifts (3rd-to-4th) and downshifts (4th-to-3rd) as indicated on the driver's ip. I have experienced multiple occasions when the vehicle will "miss" the shift from 3rd to 4th, normally when cold and under light to moderate throttle conditions. The gear indicator briefly shows 1st gear, however, I was able to apply full throttle (100% accel pedal), but had no power to the wheels (drive is not engaged), engine speed rose to approximately 3000 RPM. This condition lasted for about 2-3 secs before it shifted to 4th, the revs settled to normal/expected range and drive to the wheels was re-engaged. This is an extremely dangerous condition that leaves me without power to safely accelerate, or merge with traffic.

Truck shuts off when pulling a camper and will not run after restart unless you rev the engine and quickly pull the shifter into drive and accelerate quickly. The instrument panel shows 'auto startstop shift to P, them restart engine.' This has caused many near miss accidents. The vehicle will stall when you try to cross an intersection or pull away from a stop sign.

Transmission downshifts hard, delays of power to rear wheels, clunking noise, shuddering. Been to dealership,3 times for transmission. Dealership said I need to drive the truck until transmission gets worse before they can fix it. Dealership said im wasting their time with warranty work. Ford will not take action to help. Transmission problems make the truck unsafe to drive along with its severe steering problems. Please someone please help me before myself or my kids or someone else gets injured due to this unsafe truck and negligent dealership and Ford

10-speed transmission hesitates/randomly shifts constantly during driving. When stopping at traffic lights, after being completely stopped, the vehicle lurches and an audible clunk can be heard from the transmission. It has always been sluggish when accelerating, today that has gotten far worse and the transmission light is on. I had a 45 minute drive home and the truck struggled to get up to 40 mph. This erratic transmission behavior makes it dangerous to drive in any kind of traffic or on the highway because you can't predict how the vehicle will behave when pushing the gas pedal.
