About These NHTSA Complaints:
The NHTSA is the US gov't agency tasked with vehicle safety. Complaints can be spread across multiple & redundant categories, & are not organized by problem. See the Back button — blue bar at the very top of the page — to explore more.
Rear window is held in place with a piece of trim, which is held in place by double-sided tape. It is a safety issue as the window can become dislodged and injured occupants. Ford is aware of this as the Ford company Refuses to fix this on many of the forum websites.. this has been going on since 2015. It is also a safety issue as anyone can easily push the window open with their hand, and could access the vehicle to steal it, or to injure the occupants. Based on the few forums that I looked up under Google, there are hundreds of vehicles like this, and probably tens of thousands. Ford has failed to issue and fails to repair the window as they say it-??s a piece of trim although the trim is what holds in the window. Essentially a few small pieces of tape hold the window in and this should-??ve never been built like this. I-??m counting on nhtsa to do a full investigation and protect me and my family.

Rear window exploded after starting the truck. Glass shards and chunks flew into the truck. This is the 3rd F150 truck that I've owned that has had this happen.

12 Dec 2022. In southern Maryland I started my truck remotely. About 15 minutes later I went out to the truck, opened up the back rear door and placed a roll of Christmas paper on the floor. I closed the door and then a loud explosion took place. The Rear window (Not door windows), with a center motorized sling window, had completed shattered throwing glass all over the covered truck bed and inside of the back seat. No one was in the car when I closed the door. Did an internet search and this is a major problem with these trucks in the USA and Canada. Called 2 Ford dealers. First was no help at all and the other professed to look into it and has not called back. Contacted my insurance Company and it is covered but I have to pay a $1,000 deductible. This is a serious hazard to anyone sitting in the back seat. There are currently no recalls for this issue just a leaking back window recall. Thank you.

Started and backed the 2018 Ford F150 from the garage the rear window exploded. A hole was noted in the middle of the rear window. Had to have Ford replace the window in which they would not put under warranty. We had just installed a tonno cover.

The contact owns a 2018 Ford F-150. While walking towards the vehicle, the contact noticed that the rear window was shattered. The dealer (al packers white marsh Ford, 9801 pulaski hwy, middle river, md 21220) stated that they had no recollection of any vehicles having that type of failure; therefore, the cause of the failure was undetermined. The contact searched online and found other complaints regarding the same failure occurring without warning. The manufacturer had not been contacted. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 7,000.
