The contact owns a 2019 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the tailgate unexpectedly opened. The dealer was made aware of the failure and scheduled an upcoming appointment for diagnostic testing. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and a case was opened. The manufacturer directed the contact to file a complaint with NHTSA. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 21V983000 (Latches/Locks/Linkages) however, the VIN was not included in the recall. The failure mileage was approximately 64,000.
