Dec of 2022 I took my truck into the dealer (under warranty) because I felt the transmission would slip when trying to get it into gear while cold. They said they could not replicate it. The slipping and clunking into gear persisted when you started it in cold weather only. Last weekend (Dec 2025) in a snow storm in rural Michigan we put it into four wheel drive. It kept slipping and clunking but finally would not stay in gear. Then the warning light went on that we had a 4-wheel fault. We have never seen that before. It was very scary because we were in the middle of farmland with blowing snow and we had a difficult time even finding a place to turn around. We eventually got it to the dealership which said we needed a new transmission. I have seen this issue raised on social media and found this. NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration): There are 124 official complaints specifically filed for the 2019 model year. I complained to FORD which said they could not help me. My case number with them is XXX. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

10r80 transmission failure at 67,000 miles. My wife drove the vehicle with our 6 month old daughter in her carseat. The vehicle would not shift out of 3rd gear while getting onto the highway. Two days later, I was driving and it would not shift out of first gear. Extremely dangerous and will (not if) lead to injuries and death. Dealership confirmed the entire transmission will need to be replaced

Transmission shifts erratically, especially in 3rd, 5th, and 7th, as well as all the od gears. Mechanic shop says its very likely CDF drum failure as this is a very common issue around 70,000 miles. In fact, this is so common he recommends everyone with this issue to report it here so there can be a record and possible recall soon.

No check engine light before, during, or after the incident. Pulling on to road in traffic, transmission started slipping, not allowing me to get to speed of traffic. This almost caused a rear end collision. It is absurd to have paid this much money for a vehicle and so many people have this same issue. (CDF drum and valve body). Consumer has to pay $6,000 to $10,000. Ford needs to be held accountable for this garbage they produced. Absolute worst and unsafe issue ever encountered in all my years of owning vehicles. It-??s ashamed and sad, I-??ll have to continue to drive my vehicle this way because i don't have $10,000 to repair what should be recalled. This transmission has shifted horribly so many times almost creating fatal crashes, it-??s a death trap. Where is accountability these days?

This complaint is specifically about the transmission. The problem has been fixed, sort of, through Ford-??s extended warranty. However, I think it-??s still worthy of a complaint. My transmission was slipping out of and slamming into 4th and 8th gear. Turns out there is a TSB related to the issue. After multiple trips to the dealership, I finally received a completely rebuilt transmission. All new internals. Apparently my CDF drum and a pressure band had failed. Even with the fix I am not beginning to feel slipping and slamming into 4th gear again. Something tells me the slam into 4th will eventually leave me stranded at about 30mph somewhere.

The 10 speed 10R80 shifts hard, down shifts hard, loses power\like in neutral. This issue is going to cause an accident and\or death - if it hasn't happened already. These issues have been reported to NHTSA since 2017 and NOTHING has transpired. NHTSA is culpable in any accidents, death\injury by not requiring Ford to issue a recall for a known defect in a critical system.

2019 F-150 2.7L EcoBoost, 10-speed. Intermittent unintended acceleration: while coasting or braking at low speed (10-?"25 mph) the engine suddenly revs to 3-?"4k RPM with a strong lurch forward against the brakes. Requires hard braking and shifting to Neutral to stop. Happens year-round, warm or cold, no warning lights. This is a known issue covered by TSB 19-2135 and SSM 49240 This problem started in 2020 at about 10K mileage. Has occurred about 10 times since with about 82K mileage now. The service dealer at Acton Ford tried to reproduce the problem a couple years ago by driving it, but acceleration problem didn-??t happen. The problem occurred today, Dec 6, 2025 while braking for a stop light when I had to stomp on the brakes and shifted into Park. This could be dangerous if I pulled through the red light into cross-traffic.

* The transmission regularly misses shifts through the lower gears when accelerating, particularly when the transmission is not yet up to operating temperature. It's as if the transmission goes into neutral, the engine races (tach spools up to 3500/4000 rpm), and then the transmission will slam into the next gear. * I cannot depend on the truck to merge predictably with traffic, and lurching and breaking traction ("burnouts", chirping tires) are distracting at the least, and potentially dangerous and damaging to other driveline components. * The problem has been reproduced and confirmed by an independent transmission shop through a test drive, and by the local Ford dealership's technician / service department. Service records are available. * Apart from the above it has not been inspected by other agencies. * There are no other indications either through the vehicle on-board systems or DTCs visible on independent or dealer scanners. There was an indication when I bought the vehicle due to a needed recall / software update. I complied with the update at the dealer and the fault indication cleared itself. I do not know if there is any relation to the current problem. Note that this symptom appears virtually every time the truck is driven, so "date the incident occurred" is "various", although listed as today.

I have a 2019 Ford F150 with a 10R80 transmission. It has been shuddering and has erratic shifting. Now it is at a dealership and they want $9000 to repair a known problem. It appears that Ford and the NHTSA are aware of this problem with these transmissions. The problem has been going on since Ford went to these transmissions. When will the Federal Government step in and make Ford have a safety recall. Going from 8th Gear to 2nd gear is like hitting a concrete wall. Ford has several Bulletins out for repairing these transmissions but refuse to inform the consumer. So if this problem happens outside of the warranty Ford wants to get paid. Please help the American consumer and hold Ford accountable for the defective product.

The contact owns a 2019 Ford F-150. The contact stated while at a complete stop, the vehicle hesitated while depressing the accelerator pedal. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact stated that the vehicle jerked forward before resuming normal operation. The contact also stated that while driving at moderate speeds, the transmission unexpectedly downshifted before violently jerking forward as if the vehicle had been rear-ended. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that there were no recalls on the VIN related to the failure. The contact was advised to take the vehicle to a dealer to be repaired. The contact was advised to retain the copies of the receipts in the event of a recall. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 123,000.

The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and confirmed that the repair was partially covered under warranty. The failure mileage was approximately 102,000.

Driving at highway speed the original transmission down shifted by it self At 70 m.p.h. The truck made a clunk and skid for a few seconds, then transmission fluid started spewing all over the place. Hade too take to dealer in Mount Vernon iowa they replaced transmission at 100,053 miles. Now the remanufactured transmission from ford is doing the same thing with only around 2,000 miles on it. This time it happened I was scared that we were going to wreck. The truck actually bounced in the rear and skidded again. I think there should be something done before my self or someone else gets killed with this issue. As of now my truck is at the shop again for the transmission problem. Thanks [XXX].
