I took my 2019 F-150, with 9824 miles, in for a check engine light, assuming everything would be covered under warranty. The dealer called letting me know there was rodent damage to the wiring harness, which caused the problem. I asked for photos, which they provided. I had never heard of this and began searching the internet. I found what appears to be a fairly recent problem, that Ford as well as other car manufactures assume no responsibility for rodent damage. It seems to me that using a soy-based material on the wiring harness would naturally invite rodents to chew on the wiring while getting warm in the engine compartment. I have parked 2-3 cars, including Ford's, Honda's, Toyota's, and BMW's at my house for 35 years and have never experienced "rodent damage". Based on this fact, even though the auto manufactures don't seem to agree, it would suggest there is something to the poor decision of using soy-based products in the wiring and the manufacturers should assume some responsibility.
