Engine randomly ratted and sometimes sounds like a loud sewing machine when first started up. Transmission skips gears and bangs into gears. Transmission has downshifted while driving causes fear and momentary loss of control. Transmission over heats while towing my camper. Truck is rated tow my camper. Engine misses while under load. I fear I will be broke down along side the road. Trade in value for a truck that operates properly has left me with an unsafe situation and a financial loss.

The engine has a bad rattle on every first start (or cold start). There are a ton of posts about this issue, and it sounds like it's a bad cam phaser that's prevalent on all F-150s built between 2017 and 2020. If there are so many trucks affected, then why isn't there a recall in place from Ford? It looks like Ford had some type of extended warranty issued through Jan 2023, but then that stopped. Here is more information on the issue: Ford is aware of the Cam Phaser problems and has issued a technical several bulletin to address the complaints and provide warranty repairs. According the Ford Cam Phaser Technical Service Bulletin Program 21N03 (TSB): -??In some of the affected vehicles, an undesirable noise may develop from the cam phasers in the 3.5L GTDI engine. This noise might occur as a rattle when starting the engine after the vehicle was turned off for an extended period of time or as a knocking noise when the engine is idling after it is warmed up-?? In addition, the Ford Cam Phaser TSB has established a program which extends the warranty coverage of the engine cam phasers until January 1, 2023.

I have had numerous issues with the transmission on this truck. The truck has been to dealerships ever since I bought it for transmission issues. New issue occurred this week while going 75mph and continually as I decreased speed down to 60mph. While driving at the high rate of speed the transmission would go from gear 10 straight to 1, causing the RPMs to spike and Redline once. This occurred 5 times during my drive within about 15 minutes until I was able to stop and leave the truck. No leaks of any transmission fluid was found and truck has had all of its annual inspections and work done according to Ford maintenance timelines and all work on truck has been done at Ford dealerships. I have complained to many dealerships about my transmission. One of the times the gear shifted to from 10 to 1 for a few seconds and then straight back to 10 after the RPMs spiking was recorded on video.

The transmission ten gear automatic. Won't go into fourth gear at at all keeps jumping when. Trying to go into first second and third then jumps four. Also on highway it will shut off all together or will start speeding up very dangerous. On side streets it's dies out even more unexpectedly trying to short gears. Already had it in once for problem with the front differential didn't switch gears and never got receipt and think did something to hubs like four thousand dollar fix. Now I serviced it for.seats they took it on took week to get part in and right tool to fix truck seat it stood with them a week before I called to see what deal.was I've seen problems with this ten gear transmission already and this will be second time trying to fix these trucks are junk. First problem I had the lights would go out in middle of the night while driving. Then lights Wont go off stay on killing battery already in second battery but to fix the transmission problem u half to use speed control just to keep it from shutting off or accelerated of speed. But with this being second time they better fix it if they don't they don't follow the extended warra.ty and want a payout for the full worth of the truck. It's aife threatening thing with this transmission. Plus had already like ten other recalls onnoy already it's a new truck I wouldn't buy one.

The Cam Phasers are going bad. This is a known issue with Ford 3.5l GTDI engines. They have published Customer Satisfaction Program 21N03 in relation to this matter. My 2019 F150 is experiencing failed cam phasers, which has been confirmed by the Ford dealership. I reached out to Ford to discuss the matter, but they stated my vehicle is not covered under this program. A claim report was started by Ford on my issue CXH01965202. The same failure described in the Ford document is happening in my vehicle, so I do not understand why my vehicle is being excluded. The failure is more widespread than what Ford is claiming, and they need to expand the program to include all impacted automobiles.

Cam phasers, powertrain control module. While at a remote site, my engine started making a rattle when first started. Later at the remote site, the truck would not start until weather conditions improved. Upon returning home, I took the truck to my local Ford dealership where it was confirmed the cam phasers needed replacing and was done. I later found a Ford Customer Satisfaction Program notice [XXX], [XXX] and [XXX] I had received in October 2021. I had acted on that notice with the Ford Dealership in College Station, TX at the time and they said I did not need to do anything because I was not experiencing the problem at the time. The cam phasers are a known problem with this vehicle and should be recalled. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
